Around Aggieland (11/27)
On Monday’s edition of TexAgs Radio, Kay Naegeli took us Around Aggieland and provided updates on all things Texas A&M as Mike Elko returns to College Station, this time as head coach. Updates are all provided on men's and women's basketball and volleyball.
Football
The news has broken, and Duke's Mike Elko is headed back to Texas A&M, this time to become the 30th head coach in program history. He is expected to be introduced today, and the terms of his contract have yet to be released.
Texas A&M blew a third-quarter lead and surrendered 21 points in the fourth as No. 14 LSU claimed the season finale, 42-30. Dropping their 10th straight on the road, the Aggies finish 7-5.
Men’s basketball
Without Henry Coleman III (ankle) or Tyrece Radford available, No. 12 Texas A&M fell into a large first-half hole, but the Aggies rebounded to defeat Iowa State, 73-69. With the victory, Buzz Williams & Co. completed a 2-1 stay in Orlando and a third-place finish in the ESPN Events Invitational.
The Aggies will travel to Charlottesville, Virginia, to take on No. 24 Virginia on Wednesday as part of the newly created ACC/SEC Challenge.
Volleyball
Jamie Morrison and the Fightin' Texas Aggies are going dancing as the Maroon & White have earned an at-large bid to the 2023 NCAA Tournament. Appearing in the dance for the first time since 2019, the Ags will face archrival Texas in the first round on Thursday.
Logan Lednicky (All-SEC Team) and Bianna Muoneke (All-Freshman Team) earned SEC honors as the league announced postseason awards.
Women’s basketball
A dominant fourth quarter powered the Texas A&M to a 65-51 victory over the host California Golden Bears in Saturday's championship game of the Raising the B.A.R. Invitational. The Aggies won their first true road game of the Joni Taylor era.
Endyia Rogers was named the MVP of the Raising the B.A.R. Invitational, averaging 13.0 points and 5.5 assists during the tourney.
