Pat Henry excited to introduce new Fasken Indoor Track facility to 12th Man
The state-of-the-art R.A. “Murray” Fasken ’38 Indoor Track facility will be ready just in time to begin Pat Henry and Co.’s 2024 indoor season. The head coach joined TexAgs Radio to preview his squad, upcoming schedule and more.
Key notes from Pat Henry interview
- We hope to get into the new facility on the 15th or 16th of December. Our first meet is the second weekend of January. I have to acclimate our team and myself to our new building. Things are different. Our first meet will be really good with Arkansas, Baylor, Florida, Oklahoma, TCU and ourselves. It’s a good meet.
- Our second meet is Arizona State, Clemson, Houston, Tennessee, USC and us. The third meet is Arizona State, Houston, Oklahoma, TCU, UCLA and ourselves. That’s a good schedule.
- We stepped out of our track community here, and that is not good for us, but it is the way things worked out. We have been out of a building for the last two years, basically.
- I am pleased with our returning group. We have added good people into the mix. We needed to add and fill holes. We did. We brought in a couple of junior college guys and one international guy coming in January. It makes our group more competitive.
- They will like the facility. In the last track, everyone sat on one side. There is seating all the way around. It will create a great environment. It will seat over 4,000 people. I think people enjoy the facility more than the last one. Indoor track is fun when it is cold.
