Williams: A&M's resilience on display in overtime thriller vs. Kentucky

Texas A&M basketball pulled off a riveting upset of Blue Blood Kentucky on Saturday at Reed Arena. On Monday's edition of TexAgs Radio, Buzz Williams joins the program to discuss the momentum built from the win and how to carry it moving forward against Arkansas.

• We had been through a lot in the week prior to playing Kentucky. Again, I thought that our players' resilience and competitive character were on display. That was very much needed for it to even be a game. They are as talented as any team in the country and coached by a Hall of Fame coach. We were under duress from the beginning.
   
• We were much better this Saturday than last Saturday. That's encouraging. Hopefully, we can carry that into Arkansas.
   
• Our team has been willing to receive the truth, specific to them, individually and collectively. We are transparent. That has helped us morph and evolve into figuring out how we can improve.
   
• You want as many players who are hard to guard on the floor as possible, regardless of position. When you have less of them, more attention is on them. Wade Taylor IV and Tyrece Radford work in concert with one another, almost subconsciously. They are roommates and are very close off the floor. There is a symmetry and connection with how they play on the floor. Other guys play off that, too. Jace Carter and Wildens Leveque are figuring that out. 
   
• Solomon Washington impacts the game in ways that are much bigger than the box score. I thought he was the best defender in the game. We struggled on the glass in the first eight minutes of the second half. Kentucky was doing a good job on the offensive glass. We put Solo in. The presence he had on the glass, was big. We were glad to have him back. 
   
• Wade and Boots combined for 60 points, but we should give 17 of them to Wildens. He was just clearing the lane for them to shoot layups. Wildens took the secondary defender out of play. It's like bumper cars in there with Wildens. He is a below-the-rim athlete.
   
• I quit looking at social media. All of the things that swirl around make it hard to read. 
   
• Let's try really hard. We are at our best when we play like that. That's how we have got to this point. Overcoming whatever the opinions and evaluations were. We are all really similar in that regard. 
   
• If the school starts with an 'A,' that's a sign we will have travel difficulties. We had travel issues last week going to Auburn. Then the well-documented travel issues heading to Fayetteville last spring.
   
• All the things that are going on with the weather, we have been staying on top of. We are about to go. We are trying to see if we can drive to Austin then we have to see if we can get on the plane and land in Fayetteville. Last year, we landed in Wichita, Kansas. Buses picked us up to drive to Tulsa. We got there at midnight. We then drove to Fayetteville. We slept for two hours and then played the game.
