TexAgs' recruiting analyst Jason Howell joined TexAgs Radio on Wednesday morning for another edition of Recruiting Country, highlighting the latest news and notes from the recruiting trail surrounding Texas A&M.

Key notes from Recruiting Country

  • Michael Fasusi‍ is announcing today at 3 p.m. Texas A&M has been in the mix with Oklahoma and Texas down the stretch. Going into today's announcement, there has been a lot of Oklahoma talk. That seems to be where the intel points as he gears up for his decisions today. This is a commitment, but there is still a long way to go until signing day. I would expect if he doesn't pick A&M today, I would guess that is a guy the Aggies will stay on.

  • Coach Adam Cushing and the staff have done a really good job on these offensive line prospects, telling them what they are doing and what they are about. Having video sessions, breaking down tape and giving them pointers. It's resonated with guys. Ty Haywood‍, Fasusi and Lamont Rogers‍, you want to get one of those guys. If you don't have one, it's a gut punch, I guess.

  • Right now, Texas A&M, under Mike Elko, is in a very good position. Say what you want about Jimbo Fisher on the field. In the recruiting aspect, he helped elevate A&M to a broader national brand. They are in it for a lot of big-time recruitments. You have a lot of your class done. You never lose focus on recruiting, but it makes things easier. I think A&M is in a great position heading into the season. They only have a few needs to be sastified.

  • Helaman Casuga‍ went 18-of-20 for 482 yards and six touchdowns. He put on a show in his first game. Jerome Myles‍ had four receptions for 120 yards and an 80-yard touchdown. Those are big A&M targets that opened the season in a big way.

  • Husan Longstreet is day-to-day dealing with a foot injury. The A&M quarterback commit has a big matchup with Mater Dei.

  • Noah Mikhail‍ and Bonita start this week against Tristan Norman‍ there in Montgomery.

  • Adonyss Currie‍ and Quartz Hill will be in action out in California.

  • It should be a big recruiting weekend next weekend. We have already seen guys tweet they will be in town. Several of the states’ best. Kelvion Riggins‍ said he’s going to be back for every home game.

  • I think everybody is excited, even guys committed elsewhere. A&M is one of those schools where I can see emerging on some guys we've talked about. Keep some guys on your radar. How that offensive line shapes up could help lead some recruiting efforts.

  • Jonah Williams‍ has had A&M right there towards the top of the list, if not at the top, for a while now. A&M continues to communicate there. LSU and Texas are really coming on. It’s a tight race. There are still some promising thoughts about A&M’s chances. It will be something we continue to monitor.

  • Williams’ talent and what he brings to the field will always attack others. Anytime you get a five-star type prospect, those guys tend to have people watching what they are doing and wanting to play with them.

  • You have the state’s top running back Deondrae Riden‍ committed. You have the top interior offensive lineman in Connor Carty‍, who can bridge out to the guard and even center. Kiotti Armstrong‍ is an athlete who is just a different type of unique athlete who can contribute on either side of the ball. Those guys lead their position groups, as well as the five offensive linemen you have committed. You have hit the state of Texas really well.

  • I think there are a lot of people underselling what Mike Elko has done so far.

  • Javian Osborne‍ is a guy to watch. He rushed for over 2,000 yards last year. He has 37 touchdowns. He is one of the top 2026 running backs in the state and a teammate of Kelvion Riggins. He will be in town for the Texas A&M-Notre Dame weekend.

  • You have another avenue to add talent to your program. If you miss, you have other opportunities. High school recruiting is still vitally important.

  • Keelon Russell‍ showed out in the camp circuit. He has great size. Once Longstreet committed, Alabama got themselves a really good one in Russell.

  • I think people are sleeping on Riden. We compared him to Isaiah Spiller as a versatile, bigger back. He got his offer from A&M as a freshman.
