Texas A&M volleyball has only dropped one set through four games to begin the 2024 season. This weekend, Jamie Morrison's Aggies will host the Texas A&M Invitational, with Temple, New Hampshire and Louisiana coming to town.

Key notes from Jamie Morrison interview

  • The record is great, but the way we've gone about it... We've just been playing really good volleyball. These two matches last week just didn't let people have the chance to come in and be there, but we were able to close out some sets in some really great ways.

  • It's harder sometimes to play those matches. Playing those games and being good is harder because you're not pushed to that level. When you're playing a top-five team in the country, they will make you pay for a mistake. In contrast, you have to be the one to hold yourself accountable in these games. We're not giving people the chance to play against us.

  • At practice yesterday, we had some time for them to experiment to be creative and fresh. So, I think you can practice it in some way, but you can be specific about the core principles of your program and hold people accountable to those every single day and don't vary from them. When these are the things that are causing us to be great, we're going to keep getting better at them. We might add something new, but we're going to hit these at least twice a week.

  • Logan Lednicky is the third most efficient in the conference, and she's third in kills. Usually, with high volume, your efficiency goes down. She's got one of the best arms in the country. She is learning how to be an efficient hitter every day, and she is learning the back-row game. I tell her every single day that I'm excited about her growth.

  • The three littles we have on the team right now: Ava UnderwoodEllee Stinson and Tatum Thomas are the bedrock of what we have going on right now. Those three have caused us to be there time in and time out, making life easier for our hitters and centers.

  • We're so much further ahead than we were, and there's a development piece, and the ability to pass the rock is so important in our sport, and I think we're one of the best in the country right now at that.

  • Whether it be the culture or technique of the game, It's starting to look like it's working. Another one is the fourth-highest attendance in volleyball history last Friday. Not only was it a large amount of people, but it felt like more people than it was because it was electric. It's cool to see those things take shape, and the little pieces of work that we've put in overtime are starting to add to the benefits.
