Winners of six straight, Texas A&M remains No. 14 in Week 9 AP poll

There was no movement for Texas A&M in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll released Sunday.

But hey, at least there weren’t any “glitches.”

The Aggies, who are riding a six-game win streak to top the Southeastern Conference standings, remain No. 14 after a 10-point road win over Mississippi State.

They are slotted at No. 14 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. No change there either.

Oregon is the new No. 1, ascending to the top for the first time since 2012 after Georgia, climbing three spots to No. 2, toppled now-No. 5 Texas 30-15 in spite of trashy conditions.

Tennessee limited Alabama to a season-low 17 points and jumped four spots, sitting at No. 7.

The Crimson Tide, amidst an identity crisis under Kalen DeBoer, tumbled to No. 15.

Injured on the opening series, starting quarterback Brady Cook miraculously reappeared from the hospital late in the third quarter to help Missouri squeeze past Auburn, 21-17.

Mizzou actually fell two spots and checks in at No. 21.

Ole Miss was idle in Week 8 and also remains idle in the poll at No. 18.

Perhaps nobody had this on their preseason bingo card: Vanderbilt cracked the rankings for the first time in 11 years, defeating Ball State 24-14 to debut at No. 25.

Running back Caden Durham scored three touchdowns to lead LSU — staying put at No. 8 — past Arkansas in Fayetteville, 34-10.

Now, the stakes are even higher for this weekend’s primetime clash between the No. 14 Aggies (6-1, 4-0) and No. 8 Tigers (6-1, 3-0) with sole possession of first place in the SEC on the line.

But to the dismay of Brian Kelly, it will not be Texas A&M’s homecoming.

Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. CT.

Seems reasonable…the lsu game for a kick of the door into playoff contention…right now probably on the outside looking in

We get ignored again but what's new??? Just gotta keep winning. It is a bit frustrating that A&M gets ZERO love. Just gotta prove it and I'm fine with that.

Look what happens when you are gifted everything. Go ask a Texas fan how that has helped their team develop this season.....

Doesn't matter when you can drop a game and lose very little ground because of overwhelming bias. The pollsters do everything they can to protect their preseason projections for some teams or help magnify conference legitimacy (I'm looking at you Big 12). Alabama, Tennessee, Notre Dame drop games to unranked teams and they drop 4 spots or so. We drop a game to a ranked Notre Dame and fall 10 spots. It is what it is. The threshold for us is higher.

Who in the 1-13 rankings should we be ranked above? I say no one…nd is at 12 and they beat us…at home…not everything is a conspiracy.

It's a non-Aggie thing. From the outside we can't understand it; from the inside they can't explain it.

I agree with all this except Iowa State and BYU.

They are not top 10 teams. They're probably not top 20. Their conference is "Power 4" in name only. They don't play real teams.

Who the F has homecoming in college? Is that a real thing? I, honestly have never heard of a college homecoming. Brian Kelly is such an azz clown.

You mentioned Iowa State and BYU, don't forget Indiana. They jumped 3 spots to leapfrog us. These teams haven't played anybody and won't play anybody. The voters are being silly trying to prop up these teams to, I guess, show respect for lesser conferences. So many people just refuse to admit that the SEC is by far the best conference. We are getting closer to the end of the year and there is a danger some of these pretenders could still be fraudulently ranked too high. At that point it may be hard for the CFP voters to disregard them, and more deserving teams could get left out of the 12, watering down and diluting the playoffs.

Yep.

Ranking confirmation bias is a thing.

Just about everyone other than us.

Some of y'all really need a better understanding of the world. It's only been a thing since about WW1.

The rankings seem reasonable. I think a win over No. 8 6-1 LSU will get us into the top 10. This is a battle between the two 6-1 teams on 6-game winning streaks and undefeated in SEC play. We have won 3 straight home games against LSU, including the last two by 13+ points each. Hopefully, that trend continues.

Except they're undefeated. We are not. We have lsu, AU, sc and uterus in conference. Win 3 or 4 of those conference games and we go to Atlanta…hopefully twice!

Since limit my TA time, while this place is entertaining as heck, i tend to forget what a joy suck this place can be!
