2025 Montgomery Lake Creek QB Eli Morcos commits to Texas A&M

Texas A&M has made an addition to its 2025 recruiting class, and it comes in the form of quarterback Eli Morcos‍ from Montgomery Lake Creek.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pounder comes into the fold after Mike Elko and the Aggie coaching staff scoured the state of Texas for a signal-caller once a need at the position arose following the decommitment of Husan Longstreet‍ in late November.

As a senior, Morcos threw for 2,144 yards and 15 touchdowns in 10 games. He also ran for 602 yards on 64 carries while scoring seven times on the ground.

His highlight tape is littered with some impressive stuff with both his arm and his legs. There are layered throws, off-platform deliveries, spatial awareness, pocket presence and decisive decision-making. As a runner, he uses his sturdy frame and surprising top-end speed to rip off big chunks of yardage.

You can view his highlight tape below.

Overall, he is the 24th member of this recruiting class and was a long-time Tulsa commit before the Aggies made their move.

Stay tuned as we'll have more soon on A&M's new signal-caller for our TexAgs Premium subscribers.

So are we losing Hart? Or are we taking two HS QBs?

Wow. Don't know if Tulsa would have kept him, even without firing their coach. I don't even wanna say what that film reminds me of.

That, sir, was the greatest post in the history of TexAgs. I salute you. -- Dough

Hopefully a 2nd project QB. This seems like the kind of kid Klein would pick up at Kansas state and has the chance to be pretty good in year 3-5.

Right now I would take a "pretty good" QB.

You need these types of QBs as backups that are not going to transfer if they are not starting... Hopefully this is our QB "floor" plan.

Kid will start over Reed from day one, kid has his feet lined up the same no matter if it is run or a pass /sarcasm.

Good arm, decent athletic ability, very good about stepping into the pocket and trying to throw first instead of taking off downfield, but nothing overly stands out. I think if he develops he could be a good game managing QB and could fit into a RPO offense better than O'Neill or Hart. Has the build to take more punishment.

No matter who the QB is we need more tools around him but if Klein is staying put he fits the offense better than Hart (assuming he still is coming) and O'Neill.

Yes he does remind me a little of Wiggy. Same size, good passer but can use his legs when needed. Also very relaxed in the pocket with high school competition. Think a lot of his rushing will be negated by the defenders being a lot better athletes but he is good enough to be a threat.

Watching the tape, it's obvious why Klein took him. He looks exactly like those Kansas State QB's we've seen over the years.

6'2 210. Next year 6'2 225.

Dual threat. Like Oregon or Vandy's QB?

Yup.

Trust Elko on this. One does not simply walk into Tulsa and steal their QB.

kid has a nice feel for the pocket and appears very relaxed while maneuvering through bodies. has nice touch and a little wiggle. nice addition and don't write off a 3 star qb as we all know there is no telling how those workout. arguably our two best qbs ever wee 3 stars. johnny and tanneyhill.

And our 5 stars have failed big time while they were here.

I was exceptionally high on Weigman and accept any criticism that posters may have as he admittedly lost his mental confidence and is now a long way from where he was just 3 years ago.

The poster above who compared Morcos to Weigman is actually a pretty good comparison and for my money, that's not a bad thing. Where Morcos is different is in the way he leads and the way he carries himself. In those respects, he is more like Marcel.

This is not a project or a guy whose upside is being a solid depth piece. He had committed very early to Tulsa under the previous coaching staff and even as his stock continued to rise he stuck by that commitment. When the Tulsa HC was let go, he opened recruiting back up. In addition to the Aggies, he was one of the first offers the new Oklahoma offensive coordinator made.

What you will see when you watch him in person is an extremely effortless release. His body looks like he's making a toss into the flats and then the ball jumps off his hand to a 15 yard opposite hash out route. Physical traits will not limit this QB, his ultimate ceiling will be determined by what's in his head and how badly he wants to work for it. If he learns to excel at reading coverages and getting the offense into the right play, he will be very good. Like Weigman, I see his upside as a Drew Brees styled QB. Very accurate in the passing game with sneaky elusiveness.

Are there any "good" QBs (above average but not elite) willing to redshirt year one, backup 2 seasons, and then get a shot as a RS Jr and Sr? See Mike Leach days at tech. He had a string of QBs who didn't start until they'd been in the system 3+ years. And they torched us every time. Is that the type of QB (maybe this dude) we need to invest in, rather than the 4-5 stars who want to start on day one (and then leave)?

Leach QBs at tech:

2000-02 - Kingsbury - 5,000 yards in 02, Beat A&M in 01 and 02
2003 - BJ Symons - 5,833 yards, Beat A&M
2004 - Sonny Cumbie - 4,742 yards, Lost to A&M
2005 - Cody Hodges, 4,238 yards, Beat A&M
2006-08 - Graham Harrell - over 5,100 yards in 07 and 08, Beat A&M 3X
2009 - Taylor Potts, ave. 313 yds/game, Lost to A&M

This is true.
Now, is he prepared to go under center in the red zone and hand it to a running back 5 yards deep in the backfield for good ole Klein?

That is an apples to oranges comparison, Leach's system was completely different and he could take a subpar QB that was accurate a long way. He did not get the most athletic QBs and focused on accuracy over anything else, most did not have overly impressive arm strength.

Klein likes athletic QBs that can take a beating since he prefers the RPO offense. If he has the ability to change his offense to match the QBs talents he did not this year, he found Reed who could run the RPO and that was it. After teams shut down our run game he did not have the creativity to get WRs open consistently. When you lose the ability to run the ball you can still move the ball with short passes which Leach was so good at. Klein showed that he runs an offense a lot like Jimbo, he will not change it even if it isn't working

This puts 5 qb's in our 2025 qb room not counting Wiegman. Hart, Morcos, O'Neill, Henderson, and Reed. And Casuga is coming in 2026. With our record for qb's getting injured, one could say we can never have too many qb's. Still seems like a lot.

I'm pretty sure Henderson is transferring. There were also some rumblings that O'Neill may be interested in transferring.

Word is Henderson is gone too so we have Reed, O'Neill, fish 1 in Hart who is 16, fish 2 in Morcos. Not a very deep locker room, hence the reason to take 2 high school QBs. Don't overlook us taking a transfer QB as well.

Wiggy sounds all but gone which is why I say that

QBs can be a wildcard. Ratings, in general, matter a lot. However, Josh Allen and the kid at Miami were zero star QBs. JF a three star. We recruited Eli Stowers as a four star QB and immediately moved him to TE. Welcome aboard kid and I hope you have a great QB career at A&M.

Our 3-stars and low 4-stars have failed even worse. Threw for only 2,000 yards this season? Ran for 600. But I'm all for projects, if we can get a stud QB for next season in portal.

Surely we're not really risking our playoff hopes on Reed next season. We easily make the playoff with a better QB at the helm who we acquire in the portal.
