A&M volleyball concludes regular-season on Saturday at South Carolina

The final countdown has arrived.

Texas A&M volleyball (18-7, 9-6) will play its final regular-season match on Saturday, Nov. 30, at South Carolina. The first serve is set for 12 p.m. CT, well before the insanity begins at Kyle Field for the evening.

Jamie Morrion’s Aggies seek to extend their winning streak to four games as they continue to build momentum for the postseason.

A&M is coming off a very successful weekend at Reed Arena, where they beat both Georgia and LSU by identical 3-1 scores.

The Aggies realize the importance of a strong finish, and Morrison knows it won’t be an easy task on Saturday afternoon in Columbia.

“South Carolina’s had a good season so far,” Morrison said. “It’s a tough place to play.”

“Consistency is the thing, I think, that we need the most. We’ve talked a lot about it. That starts in practice. That’s showing up every single day with the intent of, ‘I’m gonna master today.’”
- A&M head coach Jamie Morrison

Like A&M, South Carolina has found some juice of their own as of late. The Gamecocks have won three of their last four matches, most recently beating Florida in five sets.

Consistency is key, and A&M has been trying to find it, especially against SEC opposition. Before their current three-game win streak, the Aggies had lost three in a row, but prior to that, they had won three straight.

“Consistency is the thing, I think, that we need the most,” Morrison said. “We’ve talked a lot about it. That starts in practice. That’s showing up every single day with the intent of, ‘I’m gonna master today.’”

Last season, A&M was 16-13 with an 8-10 record against SEC foes. This year, the Aggies are a win on Saturday away from double-digit wins in league play. Improvements such as this greatly emphasize what Morrison has been trying to bring to the program.

Selection Sunday is later this weekend, and while A&M is likely to make the NCAA Tournament, a quality victory ay South Carolina would give the Aggies a perfect confidence boost and potentially give them a chance to host a first-round match.

“I think we’re playing our best volleyball of the year at the right time,” Morrison said. “That’s an exciting thing.”

Winning four straight to end the regular season would be just what the Aggies need to potentially make December a memorable one.
