Notes from Bob Sturm interview

* The Ticket is bringing back their college road trips, and naturally, the first place they wanted to go was to Aggieland. A&M does college football just as well as anybody between the scenes of Kyle Field and the overall game day atmosphere.

* Living in the metroplex, he is surrounded by Aggies. His first game in College Station was 2001’s red, white and blue out against Oklahoma State in which he wore blue. A few weeks later, he came back to Aggieland with his show when A&M played Notre Dame. He’s been down with the show at least four or five times and never leaves disappointed.

* He has personally been behind A&M’s move to the SEC the whole time. It was definitely an ambitious move, but that’s the whole point of sports. It will be a very big challenge, but given the college football landscape, he can’t see a downside to moving into the country’s best conference. A&M should also move up the recruiting ladder in the state of Texas, and it should put the Aggies on at least equal footing with the University of Texas. He’s really enjoyed SEC football the past few years, and now it should get even better by having a local tie to the league.

* Back when the schedule came out and they planned the road trip to College Station, he expected this game to be a tossup. He realizes that the Razorbacks have had a down season to say the least, but he was still shocked by the point spread coming out of Las Vegas earlier this week. Arkansas is still loaded with top-end talent at key positions which makes him think that the two touchdown point spread is even crazier. He expects A&M to win, but it certainly will be a big hurdle to finally get an SEC win on their resume.

* He can’t give up any secrets as to whether 1920’s style reporter Scoops Callahan will be making an appearance this weekend, but Callahan has made appearances in the past.
