On Monday’s edition of TexAgs Live, Kay Naegeli took us Around Aggieland and provided updates on all things Texas A&M as the spring sports are underway. Men's basketball and women's basketball continue their conference slates and more.
Basketball
With a trio of Aggies in double figures, No. 8 Texas A&M won its fifth straight game, beating Arkansas in front of 10,752 at Reed Arena on Saturday.
Earlier on Saturday, the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee posted a preview bracket that had A&M as a No. 2 seed and ranked sixth overall behind Auburn, Alabama, Duke, Florida and Tennessee.
The Aggies will head to Miss. State on Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 6 p.m. CT.
Women’s Basketball
Joni Taylor’s Aggies are back in action after a bye at No. 21 Alabama on Monday at 7 p.m.
Baseball
Michael Earley and Texas A&M took care of business, sweeping Elon over the weekend — 4-2, 16-6 and 12-6.
They will host McNeese on Tuesday night.
Softball
Trisha Ford's fifth-ranked Fightin' Texas Aggies went 4-1 in the Shriners Children's Clearwater Invitational, beating Charlotte on Sunday to cap off the trip to Florida.
Next up is a doubleheader against Florida A&M in the JoAnne Graf Classic in Tallahassee, Florida, beginning on Friday, Feb. 21.
Women’s Tennis
The No. 2 Texas A&M women’s tennis team defeated No. 16 Pepperdine, 6-1, Sunday at the Mitchell Tennis Center to close out non-conference play.
Texas A&M opens SEC play at Texas on Sunday, Feb. 23.
Men’s Tennis
The No. 14 Aggie men’s tennis team completed its first sweep of the season against No. 20 Michigan and upset Kentucky on Sunday in the consolation bracket at ITA National Team Indoors Championships.
The Aggies are back at home, opening SEC play against LSU on Feb. 22.
Men’s Golf
The Texas A&M men’s golf team finished the John A. Burns Intercollegiate tied for fifth place with a pair of top 20 teams after Saturday’s 4-under 276.
The Aggies return to action March 2-4 when they travel to Las Vegas for the talent-laden Southern Highlands Collegiate.
Women’s Golf
The No. 18 Texas A&M women's golf team began the spring season at the Moon Golf Invitational.
Track & Field
Texas A&M’s men’s 4x400m relay team and women’s triple jumper Winny Bii captured national-leading marks on the final day of the Tiger Paw Invitational on. Saturday.
The 4x4 crossed the line in 3:02.21, and the mark ranks No. 3 in the A&M history books
Bii surpassed the 14m barrier in the triple jump for the first time in her career. Her mark of 14.01m won her fourth-straight triple jump event this season.
Equestrian
The No. 4 Texas A&M equestrian team fell on the road to No. 8 South Carolina, 11-9, Saturday morning.
The Aggies return home to the Hildebrand Equine Complex on Friday, Feb. 14, to face No. 3 Georgia at noon.
Swimming and Diving
The No. 17/21 Texas A&M swimming & diving team is set for action at the SEC Swimming & Diving Championships on Georgia's campus this week. Last year, the Aggie women's team placed third overall and the men's squad is looking to improve upon a fourth-place finish.
