TALLAHASSEE – Texas A&M’s Kennedy Powell placed a textbook bunt to walk-off Southeastern Louisiana, 3-2, to complete a perfect 5-0 weekend at the JoAnne Graf Classic.
Powell led off the game with a walk and Mac Barbara followed with a single to left field as the Aggies had two on and no outs. Mya Perez broke the ice with an RBI single to score Powell, while Amari Harper made it 2-0 with a sac-fly scoring Barbara. Aggie starter Kate Munnerlyn kept Southeastern Louisiana (11-6) scoreless through the next three innings before the Maroon & White allowed two runs on two defensive errors in the top of the fifth.
Texas A&M (15-1) threatened in the bottom half as Kramer Eschete led off with a single up the middle, before a sac bunt and consecutive groundouts spoiled the opportunity leaving the winning run stranded on third. Emiley Kennedy entered the circle and sat down SLU in order in the sixth and seventh innings on 18 pitches.
Ol’ Sarge’s charges wasted no time as a fielder’s choice and single had Aggies on the corners with only one out before Powell called game laying a bunt down to score Hailey Golden.
