Heisman Hopefuls: Time for a freshman to win the Trophy?

There was once a time when no lineman, no player from a losing team, no primarily defensive player, no African-American, no junior college transfer, no player from Alabama or no sophomore had ever won the Heisman Trophy.

All those have changed.

Notre Dame end Leon Hart was considered a lineman when he won the Heisman in 1949. Notre Dame running back/quarterback Paul Hornung won it in 1956 even though the Irish managed just two victories.
