An Aggie legend returns to the Lone Star state.

Just a day ago, it was reported by Adam Schefter that the Jaguars planned on releasing WR Christian Kirk. Not even 24 hours later, Diana Russini now reports that Kirk will be headed to Houston in a trade for a 2026 seventh-round pick.

Kirk started his NFL career with the Arizona Cardinals in 2018, where he showed flashes of being a true weapon. He had at least 40 catches, 500 yards and three touchdowns in each of his first four seasons.

Things escalated when he signed a four-year, $72 million deal with the Jaguars in free agency ahead of 2022, making him the new WR1 in Jacksonville. He stepped up to the plate in a big way, garnering career highs of 84 receptions, 1,108 receiving yards and eight touchdown catches. Health has limited him these last two seasons, including an abdominal injury as well as a broken collarbone.

Kirk’s time at Texas A&M is the stuff of legend.

He was a first-team All-SEC selection thrice, an All-American twice, won SEC Freshman of the Year, won SEC Newcomer of the Year, was ninth all-time in career punt return TDs (6) and was the first Aggie to ever post 80-plus catches in consecutive seasons (2015, 2016).

Not to mention, he is in A&M’s top three in career receptions (234), receiving yards (2856) and touchdowns (26).

Kirk now not only returns to the state of Texas, but he is also quite familiar with NRG Stadium.

He made his college debut in that stadium, where he dominated with six receptions, 106 yards, a receiving touchdown and a 79-yard punt return touchdown as the Aggies took down No. 15 Arizona State on Setp. 5, 2015.

Kirk also played at NRG three separate times in his three seasons with the Jaguars, totaling 13 receptions, 171 yards and a touchdown vs. Houston in H-Town.

With a 2025 receiver room shaping up to include Nico Collins, Tank Dell and now Kirk, I’d bet Texans fans are really excited about what this offense could look like when they’re healthy.

Now, to build that offensive line…
