
Around Aggieland (3/31)
On Monday's edition of TexAgs Live, Kaylee Dreyer took us Around Aggieland and provided updates on all things Texas A&M as the diamond sports are underway. Texas A&M softball is on a win streak and just swept LMU with multiple players having standout performances.
Baseball
Baseball took on Kentucky this past weekend in a three-game series. They won the first game 9-7, which makes for their first SEC win in the books, but then dropped games two and three, 14-11 and 10-5.
Jace LaViolette broke the home run record on Saturday with his 57th career home run, and Caden Sorrell made his season debut, hitting a home run on his first at-bat.
On Tuesday, the team will face UIW here at Olsen Field and look for their 14th win of the season.
Softball
No. 5 Texas A&M softball swept Loyola Marymount University this weekend with a pair of run rules on Friday and Sunday. The final score was 13-1 on Friday, 6-2 on Saturday, and 12-0 on Sunday.
Mya Perez was the talk of Sunday’s game as she hit two home runs in the same game for the first time in her career, bringing her season total to 10 home runs. Perez finished the weekend going 6-for-8 with two home runs, four RBI, four runs and two walks.
Next up, they will face Prairie View on Wednesday here at Davis Diamond.
Track & Field
Texas A&M track and field split between the Raleigh Relays and the Battle on the Bayou.
On the first day of the Raleigh Relays Cooper Cawthra broke the 1500m school record with a time of 3:36.79. On Friday, the Aggies recorded seven all-time marks between both meets. Jaiya Covington captured the national lead in the 100m hurdles following a personal-best performance Saturday on the final day of the Battle on the Bayou.
The team will travel to Gainesville for the Florida Relays on April 4 and 5.
Women’s Tennis
The No. 2 Texas A&M women's tennis team downed No. 7 Tennessee, 4-1, for its fourth-straight win. They improved to 19-2 and 10-1 in the SEC and will face Mississippi State on April 4, looking for their 20th win on the season.
Swimming & Diving
Texas A&M's Jaxon Bowshire posted the highest finish in program history as the national runner-up, and Rhett Hensley added a fourth-place score in the same event, closing out the Men's NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships.
The Aggies finished the meet in 12th place with 95.5 points, which marks the highest finish for the men since the 2020-21 season.
