Chicago Sky select Aicha Coulibaly with 22nd pick in 2025 WNBA Draft
Aggieland to Chicago.
On Monday, former Texas A&M guard Aicha Coulibaly was selected 22nd overall to the Chicago Sky in the 2025 WNBA Draft.
It marks the 18th Aggie drafted to the WNBA and the first A&M women’s basketball player taken since a trio of Aggies — Aaliyah Wilson, N'dea Jones and Ciera Johnson — were drafted in 2021.
Known as "AC," she served as the A&M’s biggest offensive threat during her two years in Aggieland. She was the Maroon & White’s leading scorer both seasons, helping the Aggies reach the NCAA Tournament in 2024.
Entering 2024-2025, Coulibaly was poised for a breakout senior season. Averaging 12.1 points a game in non-conference play, she entered SEC play as one of the league’s most promising and experienced guards.
Coulibaly’s final year of college hoops was cut short after tearing her ACL against LSU on Jan. 26.
A transfer from Auburn, Coulibaly left her mark on Joni Taylor’s program.
Although A&M’s results have appeared underwhelming, the Bamako, Mali, native led the charge in some big-time wins for the women’s basketball program — including the upsets of No. 25 Ole Miss and No. 11 Kentucky this season as well as A&M’s run in the SEC Tournament in Taylor’s first year.
Additionally, in last year’s first-round March Madness clash with Nebraska, Coulibaly single-handedly dug the Aggies out of a 17-point hole with a 26-point outburst. However, AC’s efforts were not enough to hold off the Cornhuskers.
The two-time All-SEC selection has the frame and athleticism built for the league, as she excels when driving downhill but can knock down a jump shot when needed.
Coulibaly is Taylor’s first A&M product to be taken in the WNBA Draft.
