Texas Tech transfer forward Federiko Federiko commits to Texas A&M hoops
Former Texas Tech forward Federiko Federiko has announced his commitment to Texas A&M.
At 6-foot-11 and 215 pounds, Federiko averaged 5.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 0.8 blocks as a junior for the Red Raiders. He shot 74.3 percent from the field and 49.2 percent at the free throw line.
The Helsinki, Finland, native spent two seasons as a starter for the Pittsburgh Panthers before transferring to Texas Tech last offseason. While in the ACC, Federiko finished inside the top 10 in offensive rebounds, blocks, defensive plus/minus, offensive rebound percentage and block percentage.
During his lone season in Lubbock, Federiko became a key contributor off the bench for Grant McCasland’s Elite Eight team. Against the Aggies in Fort Worth, he put up seven points, six rebounds, four steals and two assists while shooting a perfect 3-for-3 from the field.
Bucky McMillan and the Aggies were able to get his commitment over Auburn, Ole Miss, NC State, Indiana and Wisconsin.
After starting his career at the junior college level, Federiko earned NJCAA Honorable Mention All-American and has continued to develop his elite shot blocking ability and rim protection.
This massive recruiting win for McMillan and his staff helps paint a better picture of his first roster, with the big man likely finding a larger role as a projected starter in the Maroon & White.
Federiko arrives in Aggieland with one year of eligibility left.
