Baseball Thoughts: Lack of execution dooms A&M on rivalry weekend

Pitching. Defense. Timely hitting.

The old adage still holds a lot of weight, even in the face of all the upgrades in analytics and their correlation with what constitutes winning baseball.

This past weekend in Austin, it was on full display.

In a series decided by the narrowest of margins in each contest, it was the Burnt Orange side that out-executed Texas A&M by one play/pitch/swing that was the difference.
