To conclude the regular season, Texas A&M dropped Saturday’s rubber match to No. 10 Georgia in Athens, 7-5.
With the defeat, the Aggies will head to the SEC Tournament, 28-25 and 11-19 in conference play.
It was a disappointing conclusion to an underwhelming 53 games in 2025 for the Maroon & White, who came into the season as the nation’s top-ranked team and will now head to Hoover unranked and needing a miracle to make the NCAA Tournament.
A&M dropped three of its final four series with Saturday’s result after appearing to turn the page mid-season. However, a significant disappointment in last week's series against Missouri and the inability to respond in Athens have the Aggies outside of the postseason picture.
Through four innings, the Ags and Bulldogs were scoreless as starters Myles Patton and Leighton Finley were having their way against the opposing lineups.
However, in the fifth inning, things started to slip away for Patton.
A one-out hit-by-pitch to Henry Hunter led to a two-run shot by Slate Alford in the following at-bat. Two more singles followed, and Patton’s day concluded.
The lefty finished with six strikeouts and two runs given up as Weston Moss worked his way out of the jam and stranded the inherited runners.

A&M struck back in the sixth as Gavin Kash worked a two-out walk, and Bear Harrison launched a game-tying home run to center field.
Unfortunately for the Ags, the Bulldogs responded in the bottom of the frame with another two-run shot, this time off the bat of Hunter.
Yet again, A&M evened things up in the seventh as the first two pitches of the inning were each solo shots from Ben Royo and Terrence Kiel II.
But then, the Bulldogs responded once more in the seventh. Ryan Black singled home Kolby Branch to take a 5-4 lead. Later in the frame, Ryland Zaborowski added some insurance with a two-run single.
This time, however, the Aggies failed to overcome the three-run deficit. Kaeden Kent hit his 12th home run of the season with two outs in the ninth before Jace LaViolette struck out swinging to conclude the game.
In total, the Aggies punched out 14 times and left six runners on base. The biggest squandered opportunity came in the first inning with two outs and runners on second and third. However, Harrison punched out on a questionable called strike three.
After that, the Aggies did not record another base hit until Harrison’s blast in the sixth.
Now, the Maroon & White must make a long run and likely bring home the hardware at the Hoover Metropolitan Complex next week if they are to extend their season beyond the conference tournament.
An incredible turn of events for the side who were a win away from a national championship in 2024 and came into the year ranked No. 1 by D1Baseball.
The Ags will enter the SEC Tournament as the No. 14 seed, and their opponent is still TBD.
