On The Cotton Bowl, The Heisman and more
Notes from Jackie Sherrill interview
* The BCS system is not working. It is hard to
visualize that Northern Illinois is one of the top 16 ranked teams in the country. Florida,
Texas A&M, Georgia and LSU could all end up finishing in the top ten and
are not playing in a BCS bowl.
* The Cotton Bowl matchup between Texas A&M and Oklahoma will be more exciting than some of
the BCS Bowl games. It was an instant sell-out and will be an exciting game for both
sides.
* The Cotton Bowl game is very important for recruiting.
Dallas is a very dominant area for recruiting for both Texas A&M and
Oklahoma. The media attention will be great for either team.
* Playing in The Cotton Bowl helps recruiting more than
playing in The Capital One Bowl.
* The current coaching changes in the SEC will prove to be
very interesting for the league for many reasons.
* Johnny Manziel's consistency throughout the season is different from any other player in the country. Even being up against multiple teams who have future NFL quarterbacks on their offense, Johnny has proved to be the best in the SEC.
* In regards to Heisman voting, the problem ahead lies with the media in other areas of the country and the older generation of past
winners. If he were a sophomore, there would be no question at all. He would
win the Heisman.
* The Heisman votes are in. Johnny was invited to New York
for a reason and that is because he has received enough votes to be one of the
top three finalists.
