1on1: Post-game chat with Kelsey Bone after 75-67 win over UK

On the what the win means to the team…

“Yesterday, people were asking us who we would rather play, and we didn’t really care which team we played. We felt like we were just a different team. I think four losses has a way of doing that to you. For us, it just means a lot. We lost to Kentucky twice in ways that we felt like we should have won. It was a total team effort tonight. We all came out and fought and had fun together, and we ultimately got a victory.”

On the play of the A&M bench during the tournament…

“It’s huge. Coach Blair often jokes that we have 14 people on scholarship, so they are all capable of coming in and playing. I think that showed tonight. When you start talking about Karla (Gilbert)’s play through this whole tournament, not just tonight … She’s just come in and and given us big minutes time and time again. It’s fun because when you can give the first punch from the first group, here comes that second group with the second punch. The continuity is doing a really good job of not falling off.”

On how she feels after being banged up this weekend…

“I’m actually feeling fine. We have two weeks off before we play again, so I have a lot of time to get healthy and get well. I took a couple of falls today, but it wasn’t too bad. That big brace I have on [my knee] is really protecting me and making me feel more comfortable out there. I’m just ready to get in and get some treatment and get back to 100%.”

On seniors Adrienne Pratcher and Kristi Bellock…

“We’re talking about our glue players. Without them, we’re nothing. That’s who makes this engine run and run well. They are doing things their own way. They were around with Tyra (White), Danielle (Adams) and Sydney (Colson), so when they get to write their own little stories in the history books, it’s exciting and I’m happy for them.”

On the next two weeks leading up to the NCAA Tournament…

“I think we’ll have a few days off, we’ll have some practices. We don’t have school for a week, so I think the coaches will give us a little time. But we have to stay focused. We can’t die down off this momentum. We have to ride this momentum into the NCAA tournament. We have to stay focused, we have to stay together, we have to rest, we have to really be smart and we have to prepare to play.”
