Key quotes from Dennis Goehring interview:

"The first time you meet him you know he's a good guy."

"He is a guy that you really respected, you liked, and you'd do anything for."

"Nobody has ever had an unkind word for Jack Pardee."

"He was a great fullback and linebacker."

"I think he derived a lot of his concepts, ideas, and formations from the old six man days."

"For a linebacker he was pretty innovated. I thought that was the key to his success."

"He is the only coach in America that was Coach-of-the Year in three different leagues."

"Everything he got involved in he was proud of."

"He was proud of his days at Texas A&M."

"Jack always believed in motivating people by conversation and not beating up on them."

"He was a great family man and a devout christian."

Key quotes from David Klingler interview:

"I got to know Jack better than most...talk about a calm and gentle man of very few words."

"When he walked in the room, the room changed. [He was] just a man of impeccable character."

"I am who I am because of who Jack Pardee was."

"There are not enough words to describe the quality of character [Jack had]."

"He was a guy who had every reason to be prideful and boastful... but never once did you hear him say anything like that."

"I do recognize how much coaches can change a kids life. I know that because Jack did that for me."

"He never wanted to talk about his successes. He wanted to talk about how you were doing."

"Jack Pardee will be sorely missed. He was a great Christian man and an example of how we all want to live."

Jack Pardee helped the Ags defeat the sips in Memorial Stadium on Thanksgiving day, 1956. He returned a kick-off deep into the Longhorn end of the field, but was distraught that he didn’t get into the end zone, and got up and spiked the ball. This was a good 20 years before anyone else ever spiked the ball. A testament to his competitive spirit. Although he put the team in great field position, he was upset with his performance for not scoring the touchdown.

Addition to the 1956 win at tu: on his kickoff return, the sips got Pardee down on about the four or five yard line. The next play, Pardee took the ball up the middle dragging four or five sips into the end zone to score.

That score was in the north end zone - the Ags also scored in the south end zone for the first ever in the sip stadium. On the way out, the friend that went to the game with me, picked up the rubber "G" that marked the south goal line and walked our with it under his coat. If he still has that it is a great souvenir.
