On February 8th, the Texas A&M Men's tennis team will take on Texas in Houston at the Downtown Club at the Met. I know it is listed on the schedule, but the team/athletic department doesn't seem to be advertising this very much.

If you are not familiar with The Met in Houston - it is a indoor tennis and club facility with 10 courts. The match is open to fans and the indoor environment is RIPE for loud Aggies to make this a home away from home. I can tell you first hand that the majority of Met members - including the director of tennis ops - have significant ties to the burnt orange and white. Houston is only 1.5hrs away - so get some friends together and make the roadtrip!

If you are a student and at all interested, there will be a bus leaving from college station on Friday at 3:30pm that will be traveling to the match. It is a bus trip designed for stadium club members but there is about 20 seats still left. The transportation will be free, you will still have to pay for your ticket ($3 kids/students, $10 adults). The bus will leave at 3:30pm on Friday and return after the match. If you are at all interested please contact:

Indeed they do. My name is Anthony Ghinelli and i'm in charge of it this year. I do small things like creating flyers and handing them out around campus, putting up the tennis posters in the local establishments, making the a-boards you see around campus, doing the halftime contests, and working out all the promotions and FREE stuff we are giving away this year.

If you ever have any ideas please feel free to share, we are always looking for new ways to ignite tennis here in aggieland!

If you would like to go (anyone, not just students anymore!) Just show up in the parking lot by the tennis complex at 3:00pm and hop on the bus! $10 for tickets when you get there and the bus will return right after the match. Thanks and Gig 'Em!

Ya that was a rough match.

We still aren't that strong at doubles yet, but they seem to be working together a lot better now.

Singles, were hard to watch because they were all split up, I stayed and watched Wil and Connor. Wil seemed pretty overmatched most of the night and got really frustrated.

Connor had a chance to get us back into the mix of things but couldn't close out the second set when he went up 5-2. Really dissapointing to see him go down in the 3rd set.

The worst part was, all the other games (from what the coaches said) were all turning in our favor and if connor could have gotten that W, we may have well be in good shape to do some damage.

we were leading in the third sets on 3, 4, and 6. would have been interesting if conor could have closed it out in straights.

texas is probably a little better indoors than out. it should be a good match in austin later this year if we can get our doubles straightened out.

Leading in the 3rd set on the other matches eh?

No. 3 - Jerry Makowski (Texas A&M) vs. (52) Ed Corrie (Texas), 5-7, 7-5, 1-0 (DNF).

No. 4 - Austin Krajicek (Texas A&M) vs. Luis Diaz Barriga (Texas), 3-6, 6-4, 1-2 (DNF).

No. 6 - Matt Bain (Texas A&M) vs. Milan Mihailovic (Texas), 2-6, 6-4, 2-1 (DNF).

I think it would have been a real stretch to come all the way back even if Conor had won. Will has beaten his man before, but last night just was not his night. He will have many other great days for A & M, and Conor continues to impress at number one. Dissapointed that we did not compete better in doubles, but much of that credit should go to Texas who have a very good doubles line up. On to Tulsa. It should be a great match.

jerry was up 1-0 and was about to break

matt was up 2-1

austin was up 2-1, not down 2-1

so, as i said, we were leading in the third sets on all 3 courts.

So we were on serve in the 3rd.

It was definitely closer than 4-0 result would indicate, but we were a long way from winning 4-3.

that's why i said we were leading, not up a break, and that it would have been interesting, not that we were gonna win for sure.

regardless, at this point we aren't as good as texas, but it should be a closer match later in the year.

and, as always, thanks for the intelligent commentary dom.

Regardless of what the outcome would have been, I think it is pretty safe to say that on our BEST day, we could get within shouting distance of texas, and on a bad day, they're going to shut us out. Either way, still a long way to go for Denton.
