Aggies are off to a hot start in third round. Of the 10 individual holes that have been posted, we have made 6 birdies! Pavan started with three straight birds and is five under on his last 28 holes. Brson doubled the second hole and is the only one not under par early in the round. We've trimmed OSU's lead to 13 strokes and lead Texas by four.

We dropped at least 8 strokes to each of the three teams in front of us today. Lousy day. Need to improve dramatically tomorrow.

I was out at Whispering Pines today. Here's some notes and observations:

1) Outstanding weather and outstanding golf course. I hope I get a chance to play it one day. Decent crowd supporting the Ags, but not great considering the proximity.

2) A couple interesting notes about Bronson. I was talking to a few of his teammates today and they said in the qualifier leading up to the tournament, he was +8 with 6 holes to go in his first round. Birdied in to shoot 74. Then birdied his first four holes of the second round. Total of 10 birdies in a row. Unreal.

His swing still looks tour-level good (as in mechanics, tempo, etc.), but he was spraying the ball today. He doubled 2, tripled 5 after taking an unplayable, and pretty much played from the trees the whole day. Had some nice saves and grinded it out for a while, but looked exhausted after his tee shot on 15 went in the water. Kind of threw in the towel after that. One lesson he still needs to learn is that character is defined by how you react when things don't go your way. Drives don't always split the fairway and 8-footers don't always go in. But like Tiger says, you should finish every round knowing you gave every shot your all. I think the game just comes too easy for him sometimes.

3) I follewed Gates for a few holes and man, he was hot out of the gate. 4 under through 5. I though he was in for a special round. Then on six, he hit his drive way left into the trees, punched out into a hazard, from which he was able to advance the ball about 20 yards. But even with all that, he was laying 3 from about 40 yards out and still had a decent opportunity to make bogey (par 4) and keep his momentum going. But he his shot barely made it on the putting surface (pin was in the way back) and three putted. To his credit, he grinded it out from there.

4) All I have to say about Andrea is wow.

If any of y'all have the opportunity to get out there tomorrow, you should definitely do it.

I have been keeping up with Aggie Golf for only about 4 years now on a more involved level.

I would have to say that THIS is the most disappointed that I have ever been with our Men's team!

The reasoning for being this upset is because I KNOW we are better than this!

I can understand a bogey here and there, but to have to quantity of black scores in this tournament that we had is UNACCEPTABLE on this level of play! Doubles, triples, and even quads totally ruined our weekend! Every time we would gain a stroke we would follow it up with a double or worse! If we are going to get out of the regionals this year, we have to erase these blunders!

The courses are only going to get more difficult from here on out!

I know this team can perform on a very high level and I trust that they will correct these mental issues that they are having over the next couple weeks!

Go ahead and call this a call out of the entire team! I also am going to put a specific call out on the shoulders of one Bronson Burgoon! You cannot be putting up the worse score of the team! This past weekend, this happened TWICE! Your third round was a horrific display of mental breakdown! To have one blunder is one thing, but to have for +2 or worse blunders in a total breakdown of mental concentration! I have seen you put up some off the chart scores in the past, so I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT! Time to step up right now!


Centrals are coming up! There are a lot of teams that won't even get an invitation for post season play so we need to be honored and accept it as a privilege to travel to Ohio, hopefully, and HAVE A GOOD TIME!

We are definitely good enough to make it through the regions and am 100% certain we can get ourselves prepared and ready for this tourney, but most important have fun with it because this is an opportunity that doesn't come to too many college golfers!

I LOVE MY AGGIES and will be pulling for them until my time on earth is over, whether upset or full of chipper glee!
