I still think a few tweaks are in order. One, if only a dozen teams compete, you can't possibly get 100 points for a title when you have 200 teams competing for MBB for instance and that champion only gets 100 points. Forget the "this sport is more important than that sport argument", and lets all agree that certain sports are not contested at all. How many mens gymnstics teams are there anyway?
Second, there needs to be more stratification between top performers and medicority. USC gets 100 points for winning womens golf. Ok, seems fair. UCLA gets 90 for finishing second. Reasonable. Here comes Washington and they get 24 points for finishing 49th. Really? They get a quarter the credit as the national champion and they finsihed 49th? I think a national champion >>> four 49th place finishes.
