interesting draw...he likes the outside and isn't too experienced with crowds (like at the rail).

14 million on hm at Belmont, how much more in Vegas and he gets pulled up because he wouldn't run or didn't have it? A horse that has dominated the Derby and Preakness?

Somethng doesn't smell right.

His foot was hurt. They might not should have run him in the race. If not going for the Triple Crown they might would have held him out.

Winning the Triple Crown would increase his stud fees tremendously (unless those horses are chicks...beats me). Plus it enhances the reputation of the farm. The money gained via tanking would not make up for it.

even with his hoof being cracked, apparently its a very common injury, and should have had no effect on his running. He ran with the pack til the end, so I doubt his foot was hurting that bad. Its a lot to win three races over a mile long, in that short of a period of time.

huh? He was done after about 1/2 of the race. The owners had already aold his breeding right for like 50M+, so the only pressure was coming from the investors that paid the 50M+

I'm glad he busted- I didn't think he was all that like the idiotic fawning press was making him to be.

Look at his times in the Derby and Preakness- he was no better than average if you look at the times from the last 5 or 10 years.

I think the biggest difference was the lack of quality in the field.

agreed, and there wasn't alot of buzz preceding the Derby this yr, i think they talked about it on ESPN the day b4... someone needs to win the Triple Crown b/c the few ppl that follow horse racing r losing interest w/ all these 2/3ers

A horse owned by "horseracing hedge fund" run by a former investment banker gets pulled up with a 38-1 horse leading the field....hmmm...

Actually you are half right. It is fairly common but it will effect his running. If crack is severe enough horse will not let it bear any weight. Obviously it wasn't that bad but it will without a doubt effect how hard he would run.
