breaks his own world record with 9.69 and still coasted in. probably could have gone sub-9.6 if he'd run it out.

I wish they'd do one of those science behind the sport specials on that run and breaking it down meter by meter.

I don't think there's any doubt that he would have gone sub 9.6. He started decelerating 20 meters out.

I mean seriously. He sucks coming out of the gates and shuts it down 10-20m early. Imagine what he can do once he improves his starts and actually tries the whole race. Mindboggling.

Still, I feel bad for Powell. The dude's one of the best sprinters of all time and seems to fall apart mentally on the big stage. I was rooting for him.

Bolt has Maurice Greene's body and talent, but stretched to a frame over half a foot taller. That's a fast combination, and he's going to go faster.

this is a record that has come down very, very slowly over the years. Before he's done, I think Bolt will make such a dent in it that it may not be touched for decades (much like no women have come close to touching FloJo's 100m record for 20 years now). Hell, he had that chance Saturday until he coasted in.

till you find out he has hands of bricks and cant fight off the bump and run

brick hands and cutting could be an issue, but with his size, i wouldn't see much trouble getting past a bump.

Should be interesting to see if he can challenge MJ's 200 m record. His run in the semis was just unreal as he was just above a jog with about 80 meters left. The American next to him must have felt sick knowing that Bolt was simply toying with him.
