Take a great athlete, give him the best drugs available, and watch records get crushed. It's fun to watch, but I think it's obvious the Jamaicans have found the next great PED.

Yeah, I'd be willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on an individual basis - because he's young and a freak due to his height. So I could buy the story of him being simply the next freak of nature coming onto the scene. But the performance across the team has been so strong that it raises a ton of questions, so you can't help but lump him in with those suspicions.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but I don't think anything is "obvious".

It's a shame how pessimistice we've become about PED's

It is a shame, but that pessimism has absolutely been earned by T&F athletes and is completely warranted. Bolt has a long list of fellow athletes to thank for any doubters he may have - and some of them are jamaican.

I don't think Jamaica has the technological resources to find the next "big drug" that is currently untraceable.

Before anyone claims that I'm only saying this because America is losing, I think the Americans are juiced up, too. I think pretty much every medal winner since 1980 has been on something.

If Bolt was the only Jamaican crushing records, I would be less skeptical, but Jamaica seems to be breaking a lot of records in lately (not just the Olympics). For so many records to be broken by athletes from such a small country raises a lot of suspicions. Add too it Victor Conte's claims before the Olympics that he knew of a new source in Jamaica, and that pretty much confirms it for it me. Jamaica has either found something new, or found a better way to use existing drugs. I don't think any of these results are clean though.

Seems rather odd that a country , a very small country ,that has occasionally produced one or two world class sprinters, totally dominates both the men's and women's Olympic sprints. Could be the culmination of better training and increased emphasis just on the sprints. Could be drugs. Time will tell.

Jamaica doesn't have a testing body, so about the only times their athletes are tested is when they peform in competitions abroad. Gives them a lot of time to cycle on and back off between competitions. I think this may be the most likely explanation.

It's not like it would be the gov't if it was a new PED. All of these Jamaican runners have ties to the US between coaching, college, training, etc. Wouldn't be surprised at all if they have themselves another Conte helping them from the US.

Or it may not necessarily be a new steroid, it could be just some better methods/masking agents for beating the tests.

The # of Jamaican’s with braces on their teeth is all you need to look for.

Go back and look at the US Women with braces while they were winning. They are also the same one’s they get busted for PEDs a few years ago.

I have a buddy that was a decathlete. He pointed out the usage of PEDs in all of track, and what to look for. (He did not use them, but I think he could have justified it since EVERYONE else was) The trick is catching them in the act. Almost all of them are juiced. Dan Obrien was juiced, and never got caught. Supposedly he recently admitted it on a show, but I did not see it to know if this is fact.

shattering a 15 year old 4X100 record by .3 seconds just reinforces the point that something ain't right.

Yeah can't stand either of them as far as character goes but you would have to admit both are hell of athletes.

It has been reported that Usain Bolt will donate $50000 to the relief fund for the earthquake victims in western China.

Where did he get the cash?

most countries reward for medals. Plus, he is a "pro" track star. Track meets are big time overseas. Lots and lots of money in it.

is there ANY speculation that Bolt has used befre?

if not, then put me in the camp that says he's never touched them.

He looks like a freak of nature to me.

If you don't think 90% of those runners are juiced (100% of Jamaicans), then you are just being naieve.

You are clueless. Jamaica has been producing great sprinters for years.

This all sounds like sour grapes because most of the great american sprinters have been busted for doping.

Yeah, I saw this earlier today. The only thing that surprises me is that it only took 1-2 weeks for this news to come out.

I noticed Powell just ran his best 100M ever this weekend too.

At this point, there really isn't any doubt in my mind that most of this team is doping between competitions. Considering Jamaica has no testing body, it's very easy for them to get away with it. They just have to be disciplined about when they take their cycles.
