(see press release below)

In case you are in DFW, the National Tournament is still going on through Saturday. It was nice to see the former A&M girls playing (team name was H'Aggies)...I didn't get to stay around for the finals, but I had an inkling they might take the trophy. Also congrats to Genny Wood-Volpe, assistant coach, I believe her team TAV Cobras took 3rd in the AA division. Coach Laurie Corbelli also played, but I didn't see how her team did. I got to watch the Men's 70's and up division...wow! I was impressed with the spunk that they still have!

I'm not sure why the press release made a big deal out of Beth playing the Libero, she was a Defensive Specialist at A&M, and there's not that much difference in position.

Aggie Team Wins National Title at USA Volleyball Championships

DALLAS -- A group of former and current Texas A&M volleyball players teamed together to capture the women's AA national title at the 2002 USA Adult Volleyball Championships, hosted by USA Volleyball last weekend in Dallas.

Setter Jenna Moscovic, who capped her A&M career by being named first-team All-American last season, was named the MVP in the women's AA division. In addition, former A&M outside hitter Erin Lechler and middle blocker Melissa Munsch, who will be a sophomore for the Aggies this season, were named to the all-tournament team.

Other Aggies who were members of the national championship team were junior middle blocker Tara Pulaski and former outside hitters Brandi Mount
and Summer Strickland, as well as Beth Weynand, an academic All-American as a senior who was playing the libero position for the first time in her
playing career.

There were a total of 24 teams competing in the women's AA division, the largest division in this year's championships.

Coach Laurie and her two sisters lost. Over 40! I dont believe it! She, her two sisters and her Mother were big hits at the Dallas A&M Club not too long ago. Her Mother's birthday - cake excellent.

Great that the other Ags won. If there was some way of knowing, I'd have gone to see them.
