its needed an overhaul for a long time, but not just in the UFC. there is just such a lack of talent across the sport and it is hard to find legit fighters of that size.

Champ after four fights. The heavyweight division needs an overhaul.

Heavyweight division needs some ***ken talent TBQH.

Also, Lesnar has terrible form if someone can ever teach him how to punch it will be a disaster for anyone he fights. He hits hard as it is, just imagine what it could be like with some technique.

There are a lot of good HW out there:

Fedor Emelianenko
Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira
Gabriel Gonzaga
Andrei Arlovski
Josh Barnett
Aleksander Emelianenko
Ben Rothwell
JD Shellnut

I think soon we can add Shane Carwin to that list.

Let me restate to make my point clearer: UFC needs more talent in the heavyweight division.

Boo, that is 7 names across 2 organizations. I wouldn't call that "a lot of good HWs", jmho.

That's just who immediately came to mind as who I consider the cream of the crop.

A cut below that you can add Brock Lesnar, Alistair Overeem, Mirko Cro Cop, Fabricio Werdum, and Tim Sylvia to the list.

Junior dos Santos and Shane Carwin look like promising up and comers and both have potential to be "elite" HW's.

There;s some good match ups in that list. The problem is the exclusive promotions more than a lack of talent.

No, the problem is definitely a lack of talent.

UFC is stacked pretty well starting at 205 and all the way down, its the heavyweights that just don't have a lot of options. There's a handful of good big fighters and then old guys and scrubs.

Case in point: Brock Lesnar HW Champ.

185 isn't that strong. You have Silva then Hendo & Franklin and that's about it as far as top tier talent.

Yeah, its not as deep as the 205s but there is certainly more talent in the division than in the heavyweights.

Plus, a lot of the good EliteXC guys should be coming over to UFC so that'll help strengthen the ranks.

Right now the UFC has - Silva, Franklin, Marquardt, Henderson, Yushin Okami, Côté

And will possibly be getting Lawler from EliteXC and Filho from WEC unless he embarassed himself too badly or is going to go to rehab.

ha! he might be "blacker" but is much smaller than Forrest.

but still, your theory has an unusually high success rate to date...keep em coming!
