I'm almost positive that I saw the "Mexican girl" and her family in Rudy's around noon today. Good sign?

She is not on the roster yet, but that doesn't necessarily mean she's not here. They do have 8 on the roster, but I believe that one of them is a walk-on. I doubt that they would leave a scholarship open.

In any case, I hope she's here and I hope she's good because it's a tough schedule that Bobby has made himself and they might be in some trouble without another strong player up top.

Haha, not being on an Aggie Athletics roster doesn't mean much, it's likely if she does play that she won't be on there until sometime in 2011, and her name will probably be spelled wrong.

In any case, the "spring practice" article doesn't even mention her. Maybe she's in school, and they want her to have a year of classes under her belt because of whatever test she didn't pass (I assume it's the THEA?)

On a positive note, they appeared to be loving their Rudy's, and thought the signs on the wall were hilarious. Took lots of pictures.

I believe the TOEFL is what the international students take.

In any case, it would be the NCAA and not A&M having her sit out. Sometimes if they made a little bit of money...not enough to be considered a true pro, but enough to have a penalty, then the NCAA gives them anything from a few games/matches to a full year. I was reading about a euro basketball player who played on a low-level club team and is going to play this season (I'm not sure which team - it is one of the top teams) but has to sit out the first 1/3 of the season.

Anyway, this is all speculative. I have no idea what the situation is, I just hope she will be on the court sometime this year.

actually, it was not the NCAA sitting her out. She made it through clearinghouse, but TAMU would not let her get through their admissions because of the TOEFL score. She was already admitted to other schools. Not all schools require the TOEFL test for international students.

IF she is at A&M, then it would be the NCAA sitting her out. A&M wouldn't admit her and then make her sit.

Bigfoot it sounds like you are in the know, so from what you are saying, she is not enrolled at A&M. Is that right? That's got to really chap Bobby's butt, especially considering the lack of mental horsepower of some of the football players that make it through the front door.

from what I know, she is NOT enrolled. The thing that ticked me off was that she was accepted to other schools that she talked to, without ever taking the TOEFL or without it ever really counting. The TOEFL is an A&M required test, and I think it hurt the Garza guy that the guys were trying to get also.
