A Consultant for TRADITIONS development recommend that money used for the campus golf course be used to help build the new TRADITIONS course. This would kill the campus course since it is poorly maintained now.

Let's try this. Withdraw all A&M support for TRADITIONS, a failing project and make the A&M course a showcase for our golf teams and the School of Agriculture which teaches turf development and golf course management. The A&M course is very unique and is one of the first thing that visitors see when they turn on Bush drive.

The refurbishing of the A&M golf course is well underway. New Greens in different locations on some holes, restructed layout, new driving range, putting and chipping areas. The guy was referring to the Athletic department coming in and building its own facilities, such as dressing rooms, meeting rooms, coaches offices, etc, etc, at the traditions course. Melrose is currently raising capital to fund the construction of the golf course itself. I didn't think that request was unreasonable at all. What I didn't think was reasonable was the construction of an equestrian center adjacent to the housing complex. Who wants to pay that kinda scratch for a lot and home and have horse manudo wafting through the air.

All in all, Hunter interests made some very good points. A&M has only lent its name and mailing list to the project and does not seem to have a financial stake in it at all.

The players appear to be CF Jordan, City of Bryan, Melrose and their investors, and all the people who have ponied up the money to reserve a lot at the complex. No Platts have been filed, so no property has been transacted.

At least that is what I got from the City Council meeting on Wednesday.

The Hotel and definitely the conference seem to be on the outs.

Texas A&M University is only offering its name to the Traditions project. NO funds are coming from A&M to help build the Traditions Golf Course. Though the school should contribute considering the fact that with Traditions finished recruiting for the men's and women's golf teams will drastically improve and assist them in developing a top national program!

Exactly TxAgGolf. They essentially have the course built for free. They should belly up to the bar and build their own facilities for the men's and women's golf team at the Traditions site.

This thing needs to get done. The conference center is totally out, the hotel development is proceeding at a snail's pace, most probably waiting for the golf course to get done. From what I understand, Melrose is not exactly overwhelmed with investors for the golf course.

This project is in dire need of some overall leadership. A&M stepping in and building the facilities for the golf team would be a step in the right direction. It will at least show some life in the project.

The City of Bryan has committed way too much to back out now.
