Going to my first indoor meet on Saturday after the basketball game. Can anyone provide any information such as scouting report, what to watch for, etc?

G. Mayo - ladies hurdles. Great men and women sprinters, jumpers. Well run track meet. Will be real surprised if you don't really enjoy it. Also, LSU here this weekend - this should be great.

It will be an awesome meet. It's Us, Texas, and Missouri vs. Florida, Ole Miss, and LSU.

Basically, just about every race will come down to the wire, and there will be a ton of national qualifying runs. Combined with a fun format and great venue, and you couldn't ask for a better meet for your first T&F experience.

Ole Miss and Missouri are basically throw ins, although they each have 1 or 2 relevant athletes, but for the guys (according to one poll) it's #4 Florida and #8 LSU vs. #6 A&M and #7. t.u.

For the women it's #1 A&M and #12. t.u. vs. #2. LSU and #13. Florida.

Throw in the best of the best from the other 2 teams, and it shapes up to be something equivalent to what you might see in a basketball final-4.

Don't expect the Ags to win any of the distance races other than the mens 5000M. The Ags should fair well in the sprints and most of the field events.

Texas had some good mens distance runners and will be competitive in sprints and most field events.

I really don't know much about Florida or LSU, other than their ranking.

Races to watch:

WOMEN:
60m & 200m: Porscha Lucas (A&M), Alexander Anderson (tu), Samantha Henry (LSU) – all should be in the NCAA finals, they might finish 1-2-3.

Other A&M Sprinters to watch: Jeneba Tarmoh (has not run in any meet this season), Gabby Mayo, Allison George, Khrystal Carter, Dominique Duncan

400m: Jessica Beard (A&M) – great runner, her specialty, third at NCAA meet last season

60mH: Gabby Mayo (also may run in 60m & 200m races), Vashti Thomas (has not run this season)
= = =
MEN:
60m: Gerald Phiri (A&M) vs Trindon Holliday (LSU) – both should be in the NCAA finals, both were in finals last year – Trindon (2nd), Gerald (6th)

200m: Chris Dykes (A&M) - his specialty, 5th last year in NCAA finals

400m: Justin Oliver (A&M) - second in the Big 12 meet last year.

5000m: Shadrack Songok (A&M) - we many never have another distance runner this good
= = =
Jumpers (long & triple): A&M has the best group of men and women NCAA jumpers.
MEN - Julian Reid, Zuheir Sharif, Tyron Stewart, Melvin Echard
WOMEN - Ashika Charan, Yasmine Regis, Angela Thomas

4x400 relay and Distance Medley relay races are always exciting.

Thanks for breaking all that down.

I wish we had Wayne Davis the hurdler already. It'd be nice to just clean up and get some easy pts in that department.

Is there a schedule out with times for each event like last week?

Yes, there is. It's on the schedule on the aggieathletics front page, where it says "schedule of events". This is where it will always be.
