Looks like you were shooting with a Canon 40D and 70-200 2.8 (IS?). Hence, it answers my questions if they allow long lenses in. Any photo recommendations? Looks like you bumped the ISO up, and used AP 2.8 on the close sprints. I have the 70-200 4IS... would that be ok for the longer stuff, and a 50 1.4 for the sprints?
Shot with a Sigma 70-200 2.8. Beware, it's deceptively bright inside the complex. It was difficult to get even 1/250 around floor level without pushing the ISO. I shot at 2.8 for the sprints because the runners (obviously) move faster during those evens. I shot most of the rest around f/4 to f/5.6 because I can't shoot very well at 2.8. (

Your 70-200 will work, but you'll probably have to do a fair amount of cropping. I sped up my purchase of a teleconverter to afford a little more range for next time. How well the 50 works will probably depend on where you choose to sit (assuming general admission).
As for any shots to look for, the sprints/hurdles as well as the high jumps were pretty fun to shoot. The races on the large track are harder to shoot from general admission because you're so far away and have the rails on the banking to deal with. The west end (right side as you enter) will probably let you shoot more of the field events and the start/finish of the large track, while the east end will let you get the starts of the 60m events, high jumps, and maybe the vaults. I didn't get to shoot any of the field events so I don't know how those will turn out. Hope this helps.
