With women losing swimming and men basketball losing in Austin, we are down 5 to 1.5.

Here's how I see it:

AGS win in mens BB in CS 5 to 2
SPLIT women's BB 5.5 to 2.5
SIPS win men's swimming 6.5 to 2.5
AGS win men/women indoor track 6.5 to 4.5
SPLIT women's softball 7.0 to 5.0
SIPS win men/women tennis 9.0 to 5.0
SPLIT men/women golf 10.0 to 6.0
AGS win baseball 10.0 to 7.0
AGS win men/women track 10.0 to 9.0

possible AG breakthroughs- softball sweep, golf sweep, split in tennis

possible 'sip breakthroughs- outdoor track split, baseball

I would say another possible Ags breakthrough would be to sweep Women's BB as well.

Sips won't win any of the track points. Ags sweep indoor and outdoor for both men and women. Book it.

Is the LSS point for swimming based on the dual meet or the Big 12 Championship meet?

swimming is based on the dual meets (one for men, one for women, obviously)

So we split indoor track..... I thought our indoor men were better.

Now 7-4. We are going to have to make up some ground somewhere.

Crappy opinion.

The women could easily pull of a tennis win if they're on their game. The guys have a very extreme outside chance now that Alexey is eligible.

We still have an outside shot, but losing 2 tennis points, a volleyball, and a men's swimming point to them every year kills us.

sharpdressedman - there's no reason we can't sweep UT in softball. I think we split, but our team seems to get up for UT and they haven't played nearly as tough a schedule as we have.
But I do agree that tennis looks bleak vs. UT, as normal. Golf sweep seems better than 50%.
It will probably come down to T&F, as we may be relying on the men to get us one last point for the tie.

We need 5.5 points from here:

best chances are

Softball sweep= 1
golf sweep = 3
baseball = 4
track sweep= 6

we can afford to split softball only if we win both golfs, baseball, and both tracks.

If we lose one of those, then tennis is going to have to pick one up.

softball in Austin is HUGE. If we win there, we have a one point margin of error- meaning we could lose the baseball series, or one of the golfs, or one of the tracks, and still retain the title.

If we lose softball, then we have to sweep every one of thos remaining sports.

I predict a sweep in golf and a sweep in outdoor track but softball and baseball could go either way.

Definitely tight!

Women's golf gets the point, quite easily

We are looking for 3.5 points to retain the cup.

We'll be heavy favorites in both Outdoor Track points.

Men's golf (1), Baseball (1), and the softball game (.5 pts) should all be pretty even.


So any way you slice it, we must take 4 out of 5 remaining events. The odds get a lot better if we win golf.

As we know the Men's Indoor track and Field team took on texas in a Dual meet (women took on UT) and beat them but lost in the Big 12 Indoor champs to texas and were so rearded the point like previous years when the top place finisher at conference meet gets the point...........but

We we met in head to head regular competition and beat them instead of being on 6.5 we should be 7.5 and they should be 7 rather than 8....what is BB's email?

First I've heard of this. I just assumed it has always been awarded based on the Big12 meet. Where can one find the fine print?

In the Duel Meet you refer to, were there other schools involved or just A&M and tu?

Interesting stuff.

I was surprised we didn't get the point after the dual meet. The only thing I can think of is because the girls were competing against a different team, t.u. claims it isn't true head-to-head competition or some crap like that.

lonestarshowdown.net or whatever its called...The fact the women dueled Tennessee would be tu's argument however there was acase this year where a male record counted but a women's did not because the total number of male collegians events was fine but the female equivalent was not which suggest in the NCAA they are different meets at the same time. As they should be as its womens indoor track and field and then mens indoor track and field as a sport.

perhaps the answer is that it wasn't "regular season" when the two teams met? As you may recall, our men's tennis team lost to t.u. earlier in the year, but that didn't count.


And by the way, we will not be "heavy" favorites in outdoor track and field. Favorites, but not that heavy.

btw, my analysis has been pretty spot on- I said we would need for tennis to pick up the slack in case we didn't sweep softball. Men's tennis may have saved the day. Now, if we can win the softball half point, it will give us a one sport cushion that we can lose. If we lose softball, we will need to sweep track and baseball, and the golf pt we look like we are wrapping up now.

it was regular season no doubt, we had already competed once....will be very interesting to see Bb's response and the reasoning why that meet did not count...I do not see them changing the score

We can go ahead and add the men's golf point.

With one round to play, t.u. is 33 shots back of our Aggies.

With 4 events remaining, we have to win 3 of them to retain the cup.

If we can steal the softball game on Saturday, we're going to be very tough to stop.

Even if we can't, our baseball team may be able to pick up the slack this year.

that's why he said three of the events. Win any three of the remaining four contests, and we retain the cup. If we win less than three, we don't.
