If you get a chance to watch the Men's 5000 on Friday or the 3000 on Saturday, you'll get to see Galen Rupp who may be the fastest distance runner in the world. Disappointed German Fernandez chickened out and isn't coming to face Rupp. The aggies, particularly Gabby Mayo and Porscha Lucas, should be very exciting. The women's 5000 on friday and the mile and 3000 on Saturday is filled with the country's best, including Jenny Barringer who set a collegiate mile record a few weeks ago in the big twelve championship meet here.

Number 4 indoors in the world over 5000 and no one of any real note bar cherkos has run it!

And Fernandez is focusing on World Cross Country (after tying the collegiate record in the mile as a freshman winning by 10 seconds - in College Station).

I can understand trying to get people to come out, but do it the right way. Rupp is an amazing runner, and won the NCAA cross country meet over Chelanga, who should challenge him in the 5K.

He's focusing on the junior world cross country which is two weeks after this weekend. I think Fernandez could have raced this weekend and after all he's on a college scholarship so I would like to see him compete in the ncaa championship. It's true Rupp hasn't placed the top time yet but I bet by the end of this summer he will have.

Love the aggie performances. The world record by the Tennessee distance medley team was absolutely incredible. Sarah Bowman is truly unique. Seeing Galen Rupp is a thrill as well. He has a very, very bright future.
