No offense taken. I always consider the source of the insult before getting offended.
I know you're not the brightest guy so I'll try again: I'm not sticking up for him, I'm just making a point, and that point is that you don't worry about putting a band aid on your pinkie when your jugular is gushing.
Football is the lifeblood of our athletic department and right now it is doin pretty poorly. They are cold-calling season ticket holders because so many of them are not renewing (a combination of the crappy economy and our crappy performance). Women's tennis is and always will be at the bottom of the totem pole and Byrne is not going to worry about it unless the results are below average. Lucky for Kleinecke, he is able to keep the results average or better.
A coaching search is expensive and most of all it is time-consuming. As we saw with the mens search, no matter how highly WE regard A&M, it is not exactly a blue-chip coaching destination. It is very good, yes, but we would have to roll the dice on an up-and-coming coach because we're not exactly going to steal Stella Sampras from UCLA (Denton was our 5th or 6th choice - Tx Tech coach turned us down). Denton has turned out nice so far, and there's nothing to make me think that hiring someone like that wouldn't work out well for women's as well, but I don't think Byrne wants to spend the time or resources worrying about it when Kleinecke is doing a better job than 1/2 of the coaches on campus (what other team has made the NCAAs 14 years in a row?). The fact that Corbelli is still here should tell you how much Byrne cares about non-revenue sports right now.
If you want Kleinecke gone, you better pray for football success that will give Byrne time to start looking a little lower on the totem pole.
My main point, again, is that even though I don't disagree with you, I wish you would just post something new. What exactly can Kleinecke do better? Who should he be recruiting? What aspects of the game should he be developing more? Who do you think Byrne should hire? If you're going to criticize, show that you know something about the game and are not just some 16 year-old that got dumped by Kleinecke's daughter and now has a weird vendetta.
ANYTHING other than your 109098th post about how Kleinecke is a high school coach.
