Yeah, it's too bad baseball and softball and baseball didn't live up to expectations. And by expectations, I mean their #1 and #5 preseason rankings. I don't think anyone thought baseball, after losing 2 players who flirted with .400 most of the season, would be the best team in the land. Softball, after losing their pitcher who started 95% of their games, along with the bats we lost, would be anywhere up there. But heck, even a superregional berth by either team would've been nice.
http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/nacda/sports/directorscup/auto_pdf/D1May28.pdfWe were sitting 20th as of the end of Tennis/Women's golf, Men's volleyball, Women's WP, and lacrosse.
Texas is in 11th. Nebraska is 25th, Oklahoma is 32nd, Missouri is 37th, and Okie Light is 44th.'
The good news for us is that we only have 19 sports to enter (you can enter up to 20), so whereas most teams ahead of us can only improve their top 20, we have whole new entries for our top 20. The bad news is that we'll always be 1 sport (aka 100 potential points) short of the best programs. We'd need to add another men's program (10 mens and 10 womens), and that's probably not going to happen, so this won't ever change.
We probably won't be able to knock off Texas this year for tops in the Big 12, which sucks. But next year, I see it happening.
