Are we excited about this latest class? It looks good in the press release.

Dadamo should fit right in to the middle of the lineup.
Haven't heard about this John Lewis transfer. By the looks of his results at Alabama, he could have a chance at cracking the top 6. The others will add depth.

1 Austin
2-5 Spencer
2-5 Dadamo
2-5 Klegou
2-5 Grigorov
6 Lunt
Hoover & Lewis knocking on the door

That's my guess. Should be stronger than last year.

Is Klegou supposed to be good enough to crack the top 6?

I hated last year how we would often get a win from Pollock, Krajicek and Spencer then left begging to pick up the 4th win from the other 3 spots or doubles and come up empty.

If nothing else this year, we should be a little more dominant in 4-6 and doubles.

I'm definitely excited about the newcomers. It sounds like we should be a lot deeper than last year and be able to put out a lot of different people who are competitive at 4-6.

Also, Dadamo is a pretty solid doubles player and I felt that was our biggest weakness last year (outside of Conor and Austin at 1). With Conor gone it looked even more bleak, but hopefully Dadamo and some of the other new guys can help us step up doubles.

Probably won't be any lower than 5. Could be as high as 2. He's probably a little bit better than Griggy.

We should be able to win at any line this year for a change.

I would say that Klegou will easily play at 2. His serve is good enough to put him at 1, but with the way that Austin played last year, he deserves the 1 spot.

Well, in theory, Klegou is easily a #1 caliber player. However, the reason he came here (instead of going/staying pro) is to recover from some mystery injury. Not sure what exactly that injury is, or how much it will affect his play, or how fast he's recovering, or if this rumor is just made up, but we'll have to see.

I'm definitely excited about what's going on at the bottom 3 lines. I'm still concerned about how much losing CP will hurt us. I guess we can't do much worse on the doubles point, so that's good...

Any word on what pairings they're looking at for doubles?

I don't see Will Spencer's name on the roster. What is the story there?

Oops. I wondered about him. Didn't see him playing any tournaments this summer.

Just a guess, but he probably wanted to be closer to home. His dad died last spring.

A google search hasn't revealed anything about Wil.

I did find this article about the newcomers. To sum up, it's a couple of former top-50 recruits that are transferring in, and 1 or 2 nothing freshman + Dadamo. Other than Dadamo, the other likely impact guy is John Lewis, a transfer from 'Bama. He was ranked 106 preseason last year, and twice received the USTA sportsmanship award.

How many matches did we lose the doubles point on? I seem to remember a few times at the 2 or 3 line they lost after being up and it ended up costing us big time.

A lot. What you just described happened way too often.

*Due to insufficient data, the following singles players were not included in the 2009 preseason rankings, but will be eligible for the 2010 spring season:

Will Spencer - Texas A&M (#51 in final 2009 spring rankings)
Robert McKenzie - Middle tennessee State (#96)
Ramiro Blanco - USC Upstate (#119)

Maybe Denton traded him to Florida for Dadamo (Poor attempt at humor).

Seriously I would hate to lose Wil. It would make sense he would want to be closer to home. Also the ships available for Men's Tennis (I think its something like 4 1/2) are being spread thin with this roster.

Is Wil in the A&M Fall student database?

Do any of you students have a class with a tennis player? If so ask what is the deal with Wil.

Wil has decided to stay home this semester, and who knows if and when he will come back. He felt the need to be back at home right now. He is not enrolled in classes at A&M this fall.

Thanks for the info bigfoot. I think that's very understandable given his situation.

So you're saying there's a chance that come Spring, he'll be ready to come back?

There is a chance, but I think its a slim one. I am thinking next year, if at all. I, personally, dont see him coming back.
