Looks like Munoz established that she is the true head of this team. Not a bad job by the freshmen, but they definitely tempered the excitement from the opening race. Any idea what Munoz was running this time her freshman year? I'm sure it's on AA.com, I just don't feel like doing the research right now. gigem, what you got?

Looks like Munoz ran a 23:27 and 23:46 in some 6Ks and 18:45 in a 5K on Sept 29. Her 5K time was her 3rd race of the year with 1 of the 2 races before being a 6K and the other being about 50 meters over a 5K. The faster 6K time was actually earlier in the year.

Judging by her position in the race she is terribly out of shape!

Mid-year with waters means they are plateauing training wise. Legs are probably feeling heavy right now I doubt it's because they're aren't in shape.
They'll be peaking at the right time.

I doubt that she is terribly out of shape. My guess is because this was her first meet in a month (and only 2nd of the season) she is still trying to get her pacing down. In high school our team went a stretch without running a race for a month and my pacing was way off and I didn't run as well as I should have.

Hopefully after running this race she'll have gotten her race pace timing down a bit better and she'll get a bit faster at Virginia on October 16 and really be ready to fly at the Big 12 Championships on Halloween.

The conference cross country meet is this weekend. It looks like the Ags and Horns are pretty evenly matched. We are ranked slightly above the Horn's men and they are slightly better on the women's side. If one team gets hot they could sweep both points in the Bill Byrne Cup. What are your opinions on the meet?
