McInnis... I'm sorry but I don't understand the hockey comparison, nor the relevance to the conversation at hand? We're not discussing kids' abilities to be able to not drown when they fall in a pool...

Futhermore...water parks? Huh?

McInnis - I'm not sure I get the hockey comparison.

As for schools with pools - because of their high cost, pools are built to be used all day by the community or others as a way of recovering costs. School district pools are typically rented to club teams.

Swimming pool lanes = money

An example is the new Conroe ISD pool. It is of course the pool for Conroe ISD. But it is also the home pool for the Woodlands swim team - a very large club team. I don't know how much Woodlands pays to use the pool - but I believe the fees are significant and was a factor in getting the pool approved. School bonds were required to fund the pool.
