For those of you who don't know KJ Noons in MMA, he is making his return from boxing later this month. He is most known for upsetting Nick Diaz for the Lightweight Championship in the now defunked EliteXC. In 2005, he won the Best Striker in the Pride Fighting Championship audition.

He is one of the most well-rounded fighters in MMA:
MMA: 7-2, 7 (T)KOs
Boxing: 12-2
Kickboxing 13-1

I'm pretty pumped, as KJ was one of my LB's on my HS football team (Sugar Land Clements) and still keep in touch with him.

is he ever going to fight Diaz?
Diaz deserves a rematch.

I guess that could have been misinterpreted. I guess by "well-rounded" I should have said one of the most successful multi-sport fighters.

I don't know about a rematch with Diaz. The problem is that the two fight at pretty different weights. I believe Diaz fights at 170 and KJ is at 155. The EliteXC Title was essentially created at 160 b/c Diaz can't get down to 155.

damn.
quote:
An expected lightweight match up pitting Billy Evangelista against KJ Noons on the January 30 Strikeforce: Miami card has been scrapped due to an undisclosed injury to Evangelista. Noons will instead be an alternate for the card in case any other lightweights get hurt, or will return to action in either March or April, according to MMAFighting.com. Potentially replacing the match up on the fight card is a middleweight fight between Robbie Lawler and Melvin Manhoef, which Fiveouncesofpain.com reports is close to being signed.

The bout would have been Noons’ first fight with the promotion since signing a multi-fight deal in December. His last MMA fight was a June 2008 defense of his EliteXC 160-pound belt against Yves Edwards. Noons was stripped of that title after failing to reach a contract agreement with the now defunct promotion.Evangelista had last competed against Jorge Gurgel in November, earning a unanimous decision victory, and moving closer to a shot at the Strikeforce lightweight championship.

DRE06- I probably know you. I played LB with KJ at Clements and also trained with him back in '01 at Houston Kickboxing Gym. What year did you graduate and what position did you play?
