Instead of picking with his mother, a born-and-bred Texas fan, Hardy eventually chose archrival Texas A&M, siding instead with his father – a diehard Aggie fan.

Great name.

Sounds like the kid's really got his head screwed on straight. It takes an awfully mature 18 year old to pass up playing Texas football to run track at A&M, which is obviously better for his career.

Man, the Ags just keep steamrolling through recruiting. The rest of the nation is in trouble for a good time to come. I bet NCAA coaches around the nation at the top programs (Oregon, Arkansas) are totally focusing/refocusing their strategy on distance and throwing events, because if they go after sprints and jumps, they're not going to win an NCAA title for a while.

So, where is Hardy from, and what are his sprint times? [I tried the link, and it kept reporting "error."]

he is from ellison and here is quote from the article

quote:
Hardy, who won the Class 5A state track title in the 100-meter dash with a wind-aided time of 10.08 seconds as a junior, will sign a letter of intent next week at a ceremony Wednesday on National Signing Day, the first official day senior track athletes can sign to a particular college.

When reconsidering his hasty decision, the Eagle sprinter thought about which school would help him most in his mission to compete in the 2012 Olympics. Hardy has already won it big at the international level, taking home gold in the 100-meter at the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) World Youth Championships this past summer in Bressanone, Italy.

i don't know anything about his other times, but the boy has speed and will help us a lot

This gives Henry 3 WORLD Junior champions in this recruitng class plus a guy who finished 4th in the years World championships. Henry is at a completely different level from any coach on campus.

05 -- thanks for the info. Aggie track and field is in great shape -- the most successful sport in Aggie intercollegiate athletics.

This is an awesome story.

Early commit to tu, then switches to the good guys after he THINKS about it more.

Wind aided 10.08 in high school is damn fast.
