Logic and sane thought aren't welcomed around here...Especially when you're discussing Coach K. ..

You could get a lot of very good coaches for equal or less pay than BK is getting.

Also, it's not exactly Byrne's job to find the next women's coach. I would imagine that Jeff Schmahl would be the point man on that one.

Facts are facts. The team has not performed well the last few years. Great win over Arky, maybe they can build on this.

However, even an optimist would say this team probably peaks with another 2nd round NCAA loss.

You can argue whether that is good or bad. It's really tiring to hear the same wait until the end of the year argument.

This team/coach is what it is. Evidently it is good enough to keep his job. If it wasn't, there would be a new coach by now.

I do wonder though if Coach K is getting near the age where he might consider retiring. He's been at it a long time.

Well, I'm not saying I'm decided on whether he needs to go or not yet. I'll let the season play out. But I've never bought the "better things to do with his time" argument with AD's, congresses, the president, Bank executives, etc. The AD is big enough that someone can find the time to get another coach in.

Sure, he has other things to worry about. But those other things are a lot of sitting and waiting to see how things play out. He can spend that sitting time looking for a new coach if he needs to.

Our athletic department has a strict policy that they won't delve into these matters with games/matches/meets yet to be played.

This team may well not be good enough for him to keep his job, but that trigger won't be pulled until our season is over.

bigfoot, Byrne's job is on the line per who? He has the time and yes, the money, to go hire anyone he wants, btw.
