Obviously he's a hall of famer. Most goals and points by an american born player, most games, goals, points, assists in the history of the Stars both regular season and playoffs.
I don't even like the Stars, and he's still an obvious first-ballot HOF'er.
Just got home from the game. It was an amazing night to a not so great season. A few min before he scored the game tying goal he was getting a standing ovation and tears started coming down his eyes. The next shift he was on the ice was when he scored with less then 2 min in the game. Then in the shootout he scored the first goal. Another great stars player might have played his last game also, Jere Lehtenen. Jere got a assist in the game and also the game winning goal in the shootout. The amazing thing about these 2 guys is that the only NHL team they have ever played for is the stars. Also Turco played a good game in what might be his last game as a star also. Saturdays game is in minnesota so if this is Mo's last season it is only fitting that his career ends where it began some 20 years ago. Honestly though I have a gut feeling we might see number 9 out there for one more go around next year. Guesse we will have to wait and see.
I hope he comes back for one more year, but either way I will always be a Mike Modano fan. I grew up watching him play and he has been the face of the Stars since I knew what hockey was. He is my favorite player, and the greatest American hockey player of all time.
Awesome ending. It was almost movie like the way it played out. Glad FSW stayed with it instead of takign that last tv timeout and let the tv audience share in that ovation.
No question he's a HOF'er... forget the highest scoring American player stuff... over 550 goals and 800 assists.
Didn't get to go last night but I was in the house when he scored 500 and it was awesome. Last night would've been cool too.
I got to see his 2 assist game (including his 800th career assist) in person on Good Friday. Wonderful to see his last game at the AAC went even better.
Mike might be my favorite athlete of all-time. I wish his career was ending with a playoff birth, but this ending ain't shabby.
BTW, any of y'all think the referees would have made it out of downtown alive if they overturned Mo's game tying first goal?
