our triple jump guys will have to overtake the nu athlete currently in first. We will need 14 or more pts from this event and maybe more.

does nu or us have any 5000m qualifiers. I see where we have a good distance runner from SA area coming to aggieland.

Texas A&M sweeps #Big12TF titles in 100, 200 and 400 in both men's and women's races. First time for one school to win those six events.

WOMEN up to 147 total points.
I don't think Nebraska 83 and t.u. 81 can catch us.
Results still aren't up final on MEN'S triple jump and other events. The board still shows us 21 shy of Nebraska and 7 under OU.

looks like OU will win the mens....92 now with around 10-13 coming in the triple; 8 in the 5000 and 5 in the 4x400. that would put then around 115. I don't think we can get more than 21 more points...we have 85 now

Well that's it for us then, right? At best we can hit 110 and NU already has 114.

No worries. Awesome job by both the men and the women...onto the NCAAs.

Too bad it won't be a double win. Let's hope they repeat last year's feat at the NCAA championships.

Nebraska scored too many points in the triple for us to catch them.

Ashika Charan had a great meet - 5th in the long jump, 1st in the triple jump, and ran on the winning 4x400 - 16 1/2 points. Great for the senior!!

If that super national class freshmen Aggie hurdler had not been injured, he might have secured the last 10 points the men needed to take ther trophy. . . .

Davis' performances indoors before he got "hurt" were not impressive enough to think he would have gotten any better than fourth much less first in a very tough Big 12 field. I am disappointed that we cannot seem to win a conference title and no I'm not saying I would trade a conference for a national title. The two are not mutually exclusive as we have shown on the women's side. I do not buy the women have more scholarships so they can have more depth. We have the same number of scholarships as everyone else on the men's side and we get quality kids to walk on or come for a small scholarship as noted by the large number of people we sign each year. When you have a state like Texas to recruit from where you can get great walk-ons depth should never be an issue. This pattern needs to change in the near future. Hopefully we will get a repeat performance at nationals.

if Davis was not hurt and finished 4th, we win the men's side also.

The 5 pts from an additional 4th place finish would have moved us from 110 to 115 and past OU into second but wouldn't have been enough to move us past Nebraska into first place.

Aggie2207's comments above are right on!The men have a tremendous team and program and there is no reason why the can't win the conference title. I Also agree that there is no way Davis would have scored higher than fourth.

Wow, how quickly we feel entitled to double championships at every level.

Simmer down 2207, we'll get there soon. I'm sorry you "don't buy" the excuses why the national champs aren't living up to your requirements.

If Coach Henry wanted to field a team that would compete for the Big XII championship, he would field that team, and we would probably win. However, he was hired to try to win NCAA titles; it's a different goal, requiring a different number of athletes and a different depth. Sometimes, as a result of having a team that's in place to win a title, you can win a conference meet too (like the girls' team, where the conference isn't as deep).

Nebraska has won bunches of conference championships, but they have never won an NCAA team title. They field a deeper team across the board, but with less upper-echelon performers that are necessary to compete at nationals.

Arkansas won repeated conference and national titles on the men's side in a more difficult conference and they did it without the benefit of having the state of Texas providing walkons and books scholarship athletes who can score at conference. We are ranked in the top three in US Track Coaches team rankings which scores on overall depth if I am not mistaken. That should translate to the conference level.

When you put more money in track and field than any program in the country with the possible exception of Oregon you should expect results.
We have coaches that have been here for several years and after every loss we are talking about firing them. This is not a rebuilding job for Coach Henry. He has been here for five years and the athletes he has are all of his. I don't think it is an unreasonable expectation to win conference and it does not have to be at the expense of winning a national title. Most national champions also won their conference title. Now someone blow this up in to saying that I am trying to fire Coach Henry. That is not the case and was not in the original post. I am frustrated and disappointed that this title continues to elude the men when we should be capable of winning it most years.
