It was my first chance to see the team on Saturday against Old Miss. So these thoughts are based upon seeing them in person for the first time.

Doubles-The combos look very good. With Jeff & Austin at the top A&M will advance at the NCAA's based on the #2 & #3 doubles. That is a huge expectation on the #1 guys but I am good with that responsibility. #2 Marcus & Alexey play very well together and Lunt plays a motivator just as much as a player on the court. He lifts Alexey up and keeps him focused. #3 Alberto & Collin compliment each other too. I like this Texas doubles duo. I thought Collin played strong doubles on the #3 line for us. He constantly gave Alberto break chances and that is huge. Going into the NCAA's, I like the doubles line-up and the point here is major to get the match win.

Singles-Both #1 & #2 singles lost, but WOW the talent is there. With Austin and Jeff at the top of the line there is strength at the top! Saturday they both looked out of sorts. Austin cruised in the first set and then just struggled or Old Miss guy played out of his mind. Jeff just looked frustrated from the middle of the first set on. Both those guys will use Saturday to motivate them. So maybe those losses are not so bad moving forward. Grigorov at #3 was big on Saturday. His win moved the needle of momentum back the Aggies way when thing were very tight. He talks to himself a bunch. That concerns me, but if it works for him...so be it. #4 Klegou has a hammer for a serve. He was going to claim the match win until the injury time out during the last game. (That is a whole different story) He runs very hot and cold. I saw spectacular along with mistakes he should not make. I would like to see more consistent play from him. #5 Bautista played like a guy who was not going to loose. Period. He came back after loosing the first set and showed the heart of a lion. I like this kid. He plays hard and never gives up and on Saturday he was not going to loose. He knew it, the crowd knew it, and his Old Miss opponent knew it! #6 Lunt-read #5 above and this is Marcus as well. Anytime you have guys like him playing #6 you will never lack for effort. He destroyed the guy in the first set, and then had to fight through the counter punch, and he did! Hats off to the bottom half of the line-up for winning what would have been 4 matches. We have come to expect the top half to be strong and I think the depth of this team showed up and made it possible to advance.

I would like to have seen Hoover in the line-up play singles. I have heard some good things about his play in singles. This team looked good on Saturday. The match was exciting and this team is worthy of its NCAA Sweet 16 qualification.

Nice post EBAg. I thought we played doubles about as well as we have at any time this year. Seems like a good line-up as we head to Athens.
Austin is one heck of a player, and hats off to the young man from Ole Miss who played extremely well. It looked to me like Jeff was just beat on line two. Griggy has had a great year, and continues to play well. Klegou has had some continuing problems with his wrist, but was able to come back and would have won his match. You are spot on about about Bautista and Marcus. I know there is probably some frustration with Colin, Nialls, and John Lewis not getting on the court. With Marcus winning in Austin and against Ole Miss, I believe he will hold the six line unless the coaches see a definite match up advantage by playing one of the other guys. At least Colin is getting on the court in doubles and making a big contribution.

I am very excited that the guys get to go to Athens and get to experience that atmosphere. Should be interesting. With Baylor beating Rice it sets up a very interesting match in the round of sixteen. No mysteries about this match. Both teams are fully capable of winning. Whoever plays the best will win, pure and simple. It should be interesting and if we get by Baylor, it looks like we will get Tennessee, who has one great team this year. stay tuned.

Marcus has done more than enough to warrant the #6 line. The only downside to him playing 6 is then there is no one to coach Griggy .

Watched a few games online in the 3rd sets of Griggy, Bautista and Klegou. Griggy and Bautista really hit an agressive ball off the ground. Klegou looked very passive but maybe that is the wrist flaring up.

Was really impressed with Bautista. He has been much stronger than expected.

I agree about Bautista. When Steve and Bob first started talking about him, I thought maybe they were being too optimistic. Boy was I wrong. He has been steady all year long, and has helped us become much better than last year. He should have a great career if he stays healthy and motivated, and I have seen nothing to indicate he has any problem in the motivation department.

I watched Berto play last summer in the ITA tourney here, and thought there was no way he would play top 6 this year, or maybe any other year. I am pleasantly surprised with his results this year as well.
