Rafa is the well deserved favorite but I think Fed will make it two in a row.

I think Fed will win, but I would love to see Murray break through

Murray does not have the game to win on clay. He is more suited to the hard courts.

Murray and Gasquet are heading to a fifth set! Man I wish I weren't at work so I could be watching it...

BTW Rafa is definitely my pick to win it

Sam Querrey gets bounced first round by Robby Ginepri. Surprising because Sam has been playing some good tennis this spring overseas, made a final or two. Good for Robby! Glad to see him get a win, too bad its against another American!

I really like how Isner is playing right now. I got to watch him some time ago at the challenger in Lubbock; he really is pretty incredible to see in person, and he's only gotten better since then. He's a super super nice guy, too. I hope he goes far this year.

Anyone been watching Roddick/Kavcic? One of the wilder matches I've seen in a while.

Talk about wild--- look at the Monfils/Fognini match. CRAZY.

wow, late to the thread.

I predict Rafa to win, but I'll be rooting for Federer like always.

Dulko is always my honorary favorite on the ladies side, and while she scored a big 1st round upset, she choked away the 2nd and 3rd sets yesterday to bow out in the 2nd round.

Soderling looks very good early.

He could present a very tough test in the quarters in order for Roger to keep his streak of slam semi's alive.

Monfils just lost a wild one.

Roddick wins a match in which he got broken 7 times, but he broke Kavcic 10 times. Kavcic didn't have an ace.

98% chance the winner is either Fed or Nadal. Between the two of them, it's probably an 80% chance it's Nadal. His health is not an issue and he has DOMINATED clay this year. I predict that Nadal beats Fed in the finals of both the French and Wimby, which will for the 3rd straight year mean a player has won both the French and Wimbledon (something that hadn't happened in decades prior).

I will be rooting for Federer to upset Nadal though to even out the lopsided rivalry a little bit. Also, I'm pretty sure if Fed makes it to the Final he's guaranteed to break Sampras' record for weeks ranked as the world #1. Conversely, if he doesn't, Nadal will likely grab the #1 ranking back before Fed can break the record and Nadal will likely never relinquish it again to Fed and Sampras' record will stand.

Should be a fun tourney to watch. Sad to think Fed was *this* close to winning all four grand slams in a row for the 3rd time but couldn't pull it out in New York last year.

I've been all mixed up here- what time do all of the matches take place(over here)? I was watching Fed's 2nd round match the other day, thinking it was live, and read on the internet later that he had just won his 3RD rd match. I'm assuming it's very, very late in the nights?

They are 7 hours ahead of cst and play until 8 or 9 pm.

Roddick loses in straights today to some guy I've never heard of

Well... at least Robby Ginepri is still alive! And I've seen Gabashvili play a few times, but he mostly lives on the challengers and is gone in the majors before he gets to play someone big enough to show on TV. Watching and reading Roddick's press conference, I don't think he was that disappointed. Now it's just time for him to prepare for the grass.

Ginepri played a great match, good for him.

Henin and Sharapova will have one hell of a final set tomorrow.

Nadal looked great in windy conditions.

down goes venus! straight sets to petrova.

Fed up a set on his fellow countryman, but was broken in the 1st game of set 2.
Bunk Moreland

and Fed now leads 2 sets to none after winning the 2nd set tiebreak. He doesn't have anywhere close to his A game, and he's playing against a friend who knows his game inside and out, so it's interesting to watch Federer semi-struggle against a guy who knows how to test him.

windy as hell out there. Tennis channel won't even show the venus upset score, and isn't showing soderling's match or fed's...they must have been told by NBC to not show scores or video for any of it.

there's an online stream for anyone interested in watching Fed's 3rd set.

fed down 2 sets to 1to Soderling in the quarters.

I knew this would be tough.

He'll have to win it in 5. Soderling is playing better tennis than anyone other than Rafa at Roland Garros.

Too bad I'll have to miss the rest of the match.

I'm not too surprised about the Fed loss. His streak had to end sometime, and Soderling played absolutely fantastic. Like Pat McEnroe said, Fed didn't give this one up, Soderling took it away.

I love Roger and he's probably my favorite of all time, but over the last few years, I have really started liking Soderling. Yep, Fed's incredible streak had to end sometime. I just hope Soderling can back this win up in the semis (which will be tough due to how well Berdych is playing) because I really want him in the finals again.

Soderling and Berdych should be a good matchup with some big serves and big groundies on the dirt

congrats to Soderling. Wow, first Rafa now Roger in 2 years at Roland Garros.

His game fits the clay well, and he has been playing great tennis all week.

I said it way up at my first post that a looming quarters with Soderling was going to be very tough.

Congrats to him.

Now it's up to Rafa to win the slam to regain #1. We'll see if he can do it.

I root against as well.

I hate Serena MUCH more than Venus. I'm almost to the point where I couldn't care less about Venus, but I HATE Serena.

Schiavone and Stosur in the womens final, who you got?

I am hoping that Stosur wins, but I think Schiavone might have the edge. She is playing good dirt ball right now

Stosur. In fact, I would like to personally thank her for beating my two least favorite players, possibly of all time, in the same tournament.

As far as the men, I want a Soderling/Nadal rematch. I don't see any way that Melzer could pose a threat to Rafa unless he is just completely off his game. Berdych is going to be really really tough since he and Soderling are almost clones of each other, but I like Robin just a tad better. I dunno why... Maybe getting so see Magnus Norman around again helps.
Bunk Moreland
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I'd like to see Soderling v. Nadal as well.

I think it's Stosur's year in the women's.

Honestly, I'd like to see Soderling beat Rafa, let Roger keep his #1 through Wimbledon, so we could hopefully get a Rafa/Roger Wimbledon final one last time before Roger likely falls off.

Also, Soderling beating Rafa at Roland Garros for a 2nd consecutive year would set up very well for the future of tennis without Roger completely dominating(and rafa doing it when he's not), as Roger's going to start losing earlier in some of these slams now, and will make the occasional run to a finals here and there until he retires. A new "rivalry" for Rafa, if only on clay, would be a great thing.

I completely agree. I love Roger and Rafa, but I'm ready to see some other people win the big titles, and I think Soderling can do it. I'm really excited about the matches tomorrow and the finals after that, but I already can't wait for Wimbledon. I want to see Roddick go out there and get his second major. It's crazy to think how many opportunities he's had that have been crushed by Roger alone.

Speaking of Roddick, is anyone planning on going to the Cowboys Tennis Classic at Cowboys Stadium in July? Looks like it'll be pretty fun! Sharapova vs. Serena, and Andy vs. Isner.

Actually yeah I'm buying tickets for that event tomorrow. I can't wait, it will be the first time I see professional tennis in person.

And btw the coverage of this French Open is the suck. Unless you have the tennis channel (which I don't), I feel like you can never see anything live. The Soderling/Berdych match isn't even on espn3.com right now.
