If we got 13, and Florida guy got 14 then we wouldnt get anything but Florida would lose 3 Formchart points- so we would net atleast 3 points if Otto can hold him off

Otto will lose about 250 points in the 1500m. Keep that number in your head as he competes in the Pole Vault and Javelin.
He will also lose about 100-130 in PV. Doing 4.50m would be good for him. 4.60 would be great!

If 3rd place, Lars Rice of MU, pulls the same numbers as 2009 NC and Otto pulls the same numbers from 2009, Lars will beat out Otto by 13 points.

The key is who Otto is losing points to. I don't know enough abut the guys that are chasing him other than the fact the two Mizzou guys will probably catch him.
Last year's 2nd place finisher, Mateaoh Sossah, is on pace to finish behind Otto!
Horn is on pace, using 2009 #'s, to finish with 7326 which is out of the team points. I think his last year score of 535 in the JT is a blunder and should be about 150 higher than that. 7500 pts would put him around 10th, also out of the team points!
If Horn does not get points, that is a great victory for us.
If Trinity gets points, that will also be a great victory for us.

A -3 and a +4 is a 7 point swing and would help our cause tremendously!
Trinity’s weakest two events are the last two – javelin and 1500m. He will slide down after those two. I hope not far.
The good thing is that there is not a large margin in javelin which means that if he pulls a 660 point throw, the average high throw will be about 710, resulting in a -50.
Horn clears 14-01.25. Not sure if that's good.

4.30 is not good for him. He just lost about 40 points!

Looking somewhat ahead – Mateo Sossah of North Carolina is in 9th place and Moritz Cleve of Kansas State is in 12th place 19 points behind Horn (11th place).
Both Sossah and Cleve are strong decathlon athletes. Sossah was predicted to finish 2nd and Cleve third.
What I hope will happen is that both of these will finish strong making it more difficult for Horn to creep into 8th place or higher.

Horn’s results in the SEC decathlon pole vault -- 4.65m, 15-03.00 ft for 804 points.
He had more points in the pole vault than any other participant. No wonder he is upset. He finished about a foot lower today than he did at the SEC meet.
Looking ahead: He only earned 572 points (4th) in the javelin and 672 points (3rd) in the 1500m at the SEC meet.

Otto clears 4.30 easily on his first attempt.

I think Horn is in desperate shape to score points. PV really hurt him.
At this point, Otto needs to get as many points as he can. Not sure what the highest he could score realistically is, but perhaps 4th or 5th given that these next two events are his weakest?
