Good chance to see how everyone's summer training is going.

From a quick glance, today we will see Kendra (top seed) and Kyle swim the 50 fly, Julia 100 back, Kendra again in the 200 fly (8th seed), Julia in the 200 free (3rd) 100 back (2nd).

I'm sure there's others swimming today, that's just who I noticed high in the psych sheets. Good luck to Texas A&M-Canada campus!

Add Melanie Dodds to the list (200 fly).

Looks like most swam well in prelims except Chernoff.

Julia seeded #1 going into finals in both 200 free and 100 back.

The link below has nothing to do with Facebook:

Julia scartched backstroke in the final, but Tess came through big and finished 4th.

Kyle took 5th in the 50 fly.

Melanie Dodds actually snuck into the A 200 fly final, where she took 8th. Kendra finished 14th.

Really impressed with how Tess and Melanie are swimming. Bodes well for their upcoming season. JW is just doing what she does, as expected, and winning national titles.

Tess, Kendra, and Julia (4th seed, looking for a relay spot if not a win) in the 100 free this AM.

Dodds is seeded 11th in the 4IM. Julia is the top seed in the 50 back by a relatively wide margin (.33). Tess is seeded 4th there.

Julia is a part of the top seeded Island Swimming 4x200 relay (psych sheets show Australia as the top seed, must be a misprint?) They'll have a shot at the meet record if they win. Kendra is also swimming a 4x200.

KT 16th in the 100 free. Going to give it a go in the 50 back as well, it looks like, seeded 29th.

His ability to do well in these other sprints could give us some nice flexibility on that short medley next season.

Julia 3rd going into finals in 100free at 56.14- Tight group though.

KT didn't have a great swim in the 100. 52.02 leaves him 18th in the C-final (barring scratches). Seeded at 50.74. Converts to a 45.10, for those who like to see yards. Still a very good time for an incoming freshman, but definitely not his best swim.

Paige Miller, an incoming freshman according to a post on another forum, placed 10th in the 50 fly and will be in finals tonight in the 50 back.

Julia will actually be 2nd in the finals since the #2 time is an Australian.

But as usual, JW is swimming fast. What an awesome performer when it counts.

Based on time only, KT looks out of form. He would have been whipped at the 50 by much of the field and he didn't finish the 100 any better.

It is interesting that tu's Natalie Sacco is swimming - She swam HS in Dallas but is apparently a Canadian. She swimming for the same club as Julia.

Good catch on the Aussie Spice.

Yeah, it's surprising how many Canadians there are around that have effectively lived in the US their whole lives, but hold dual citizenship, and know that they aren't anywhere near being competitive in the US National Team system.

Melanie Dodds, for example, is on the verge of earning a spot on the Canadian Pan-Pac team in the 400 IM (#2 Canadian headed into finals, full second ahead of #3), but her time converted places her pretty close to last at last year's NCAA meet. She happens to be a true Canadian, but it's a good example of the difference in overall quality, and especially depth, of the Canadian team versus the US team.

Similarly, Kristina Kontrimas is a Lithuanian National Record holder, even though she's from Sugarland.

Can you blame them? I would do it too.

That Island Swimming Club seems to be a mercenary team, of sorts, that accepts swimmers who need a club (or a relay) but train in the US most of the year. It's in Vancouver. They've trained quite a few Olympians, actually, but don't list Julia as one of them.

BTW... Julia's the top headline on the Canadian Swimming home page. https://www.swimming.ca/Default.aspx
