Anyone else watching?
Julia and Melanie are representing Canada...Julia had the 8th best prelim time in 100 back, and moved up to 5th in the finals. 6th best time overall including Pelton's swim in the B-final (only 2 swimmers from each country can qualify for the A-final, third gets bumped to the B-final, rest are out).

Watching a bit....

I was surprised JW didn't swim the 100 or the 200 free. She was the NCAA 100 champ!

Otherwise I think it is the Lochte/Soni show. Kitajima looks back in form. I can't believe Phelps swam the 4IM today. He fades in his 200s now.

Men's 100 free final tonight should be a Cielo win over Adrian and Lezak. Should be a good race.

Wilkinson gets her second major international medal ever in the 800 relay. Had the fastest split for Canada.

The American men are about to win the men's 800 relay by about 35 meters.

what did you think of the 100 final, Spice?
you cant rely on old information to predict the outcome of these type of races!
Adrian is approaching god status based on recent performances. Hayden, too, knows how to bring something special when it counts. Lezak is old news.
There's plenty of players now on the world stage that can potentially show up at any given time.

The U.S. is cleaning up, as usual.

So far...
39 medals (20 gold, 11 silver, 8 bronze)

Australia has 25 medals, but only 4 gold.

Japan is next with only 9 medals.

Also...

The Australian men still haven't won a single gold up to this point. The American men have 9 golds. The Australian men only have 6 total medals.

The Australian women are still much more even with the Americans, though we still dominate them in golds (11 to 4).

In fairness to the Aussie's, they're shooting towards the Commonwealth Games in October, and so aren't at a full taper for this meet, whereas the Americans are. Same with the Japanese, for the Asian Games in November.

Still have been some awesome swims, especially from Lochte and Clary.

Julia the third seed in the 200 IM tonight! Chance for first major international individual medal!
